Photography they will all get the job done. Really depends on your budget if you're a beginner learning camera fundamentals is more important. I recommend researching what lens works best with your style of photography then choose a body. These are all different in price point it's hard to give you real answers.

Excellent video David. i'm primarly a wedding 2nd shooter. I want to migrate to the R system coming from a Nikon d750. i have two of them and 3 fixed Glasses. R8 is what i want but i know my budget is trouble, so i came across The Sigma 18-35 + R7 combo is a go to camera for a photographer who is migrating but wants to maintain quality. Is the speedbooster compatible with this lens? Would the R7 be best choice to migrate and then go for the R8 when i'm safely migrated to leave the R7 as a backup?

Since this is a very specific scenario, I'm going to give you my opinion. I think you should stay with the Nikon until you have enough money to get the body and lens you want. Even though the R7 18-35mm is a great combo once you put on the Speedbooster you won't be able to use it until 25mm-35mm due to the lens being a crop sensor lens on the wider focal length. I believe the d750 is full frame so I don't want you to walk away from a workflow you're used to.

@@DavidKabra i would say easily and in the same situations as the canon adapter. I thought I was lucky to find one of the few adapters left on ebay after canon did "order 66" on thirdparty lenses but its just like the canon. Currently I use it on an eos R

Would you reccomend R6M2 , S5II? or Sony A7IV, or get R8 with Gimbal I wanna upgrade to FF. I have Eos M50 and so nightlife photography indoors. Im already with suffering with low light capabilities of APS sensor.

I only have experience with the R6M2, only issue with it is the ibis when you shoot wider than 35mm you get ibis wobbles. So vlog type angles I tend to turn off ibis or stand still. Carrying a gimbal gets annoying after a while in general specially if you think you have to use it all the time with the R8, but at least the digital stab is better than the M50. I only use gimbals if I have specific shots in mind. Low light R6 I love it, saved my butt a few times. I assume R8 performs the same. There's a few videos where the A7IV and S5 ibis are being compared, can't give my opinion since I don't have hands-on experience with them yet. Any of the cameras you mentioned will be good tbh main thing is your lens selection. I hope the S5II is the same ibis as the GH6.

@@DavidKabra Exactly, I wanna build eco system and Im already accustomed to Canon eco system. Only deal breaker for me is actually megapixels, 24 is way less for 2023. Probably gonna get R8 for now or second hand Sony A7IV. I really dont like the color science of S5MKII

A7iv deal breaking is the greenish white balance and crop in 4k50/60. R8 only weakness is the nerfed Clog3. There is only 10EV. However if you don't mess up the exposure, you can live comfortably with it.

Hey. Thanks for the video. Im using the Canon 0.71 mount adapter and the annoying thing is that it keeps reminding me every time I turn the camera on or wake from sleep, that its not supported by the firmware. Just have to press OK every time. Does this speedbooster do the same?

ive been holding back for years squeezing the most out of canon 700d APSC for my studio style portrait and fashion and product shoots work and R7 seemed perfect option to finally allow myself an upgrade, but when R8 came along and the potential to go full frame I couldnt decide - ive got EF and EF-S lenses and my budget will not stretch to RF lenses so was hoping to use adaptor on R7 but wasnt sure if it can work on R8 - was useful to see this video but im still in 2 minds sigh ......

I see your dilemma, there's the regular ef-rf adapter that works with both EF and EF-S glass BUT when you use EF-S glass on full frame RF bodies you'll get a cropped view like aspc and smaller file sizes since those lenses don't cover the full frame sensor of the R8. When you use a Speedbooster on full frame you get a vignette look since it's meant for crop sensor cameras. If you have more EF glass than EFS R8 is the way to go if you are tempted for full frame. Both cameras are great just depends on what your budget allows. Lmk what camera you end up getting.

The Viltrox also reports EXIF data correctly while the Metabones does not.

@@DavidKabra I had the Metabones first - Got that one for use with my R5 and then picked up the Viltrox as a second option when I added the R7. The Metabones reports exif but it’s not always complete. Like my 300 2.8 IS USM it just reports as “300.0” and my 70-200 f4 IS USM as the 70-200 f4. The Viltrox reports the complete (and accurate) information.

The viltrox speedbooster has been discontinued and is no longer being sold on their website. Does it still work with the most recent r7 firmware updates? Trying to decide whether to buy r6 m2 or save money and get r7 with the speedbooster (if it works). Video/photo is a hobby so not sure if it makes sense to spend $1k more for full frame.

I think because it has autofocus Canon asked them to stop production on it. Took a chance and got it thru eBay. I don't see how they can make it stop working thru software cuz I feel like that would mess up their adapted ef lenses. I usually wait and hear back from the first group that's updated. I'll let you know once I update on my end. Currently I have fw 1.2.0. There's always the R8 as the fullframe alternative and even the Lumix S5 ii bit cheaper than the R6MKII

I bought the EOS R at launch....5 years later have not bought any RF glass. As long as my clients are happy and I can do my job, I see no need to buy RF glass.
