yeah back in those days i really wanted to have these laptops and a more power ful desktop pc i had a intel celeron 1.8 ghz desktop pc with s3 graphics pro savage ddr with an 60 gb hdd and upgraded my ram from 256 md ddr to 768 mb ddr ram by adding a single 512 mb ram stick than upgraded my gpu to a dedicated 64 mb nvidia gpu i cant remember the name though of the gpu and then upgraded to another gpu which i do remember with 256 mb dedicated video memory it was nvidia geforce fx 5200.

that vaio is the one worth an ssd upgrade/lightweight linux and perhaps given to a person in need the hp is nearly useless for modern....anything, but that's ok. you were on the right track with half-life, thief 2. reeeeeeally old stuff should be fine (like pre 2001) and just overall nostalgia of using xp is the value of such a machine def feels good keepin stuff out of the landfill tho

Wonderful video. I can't throw my older working systems away... I was actually planning to turn an old laptop into an XP or 7 machine (i7-2630QM/GT 540M) but just when I got the idea, the videocard died (I think)...Oh well. I know someone who can revive it, I'll see.

If the GPU is slotted, aka MXM, you should be able to swap it out or upgrade it without too much hassle. But MXM cards are scarce as it didnt really take off as a standard, so they’re kind of pricey. But that’d be a really sick system to get up and running, good processor

@@YogertPC Sorry, I should have mentioned that before, but I have had the air vents cleaned and the thermal paste replaced a few times over the years and I have seen the laptop's insides because of that and sadly it's all just one board, no slotted parts at all (except for the RAM).

I have a dell latitude d630 laptop running vista. Maybe i can use it for something
