glad you enjoyed it! with video cameras, if you record in portrait, the uploaded footage will default to landscape so your video will be sideways. for some reason cell phone footage doesn't do that and instead it squishes down to fit the landscape video player.

horizontal and landscape are the same thing. if you film vertically on your cell phone, KZbin doesn't flip it, it squishes it down to fit into the horizontal player, which is why you get the black bars on either side of the footage.

if you're watching on a desktop or if your video is featured on television, it will have black bars on each side because the video will be squeezed into a horizontal player. while lots of people consume video on their phones, not everyone does.

then I reached out to Andrew (cause i've wanted to work with him for ages), asked if he could re-create the song, he said yes, i recorded it and sent it to my friends asking if they would be in it. i filmed everything in my apartment in front of a green screen, dropped in everyone's footage, uploaded and the rest is history!

this doesn't reeeeally apply to photos. it's more of an issue for video. but if you upload a vertical photo into a video slideshow you'll also get the black bars, but again, that's a bit more forgivable because some photos are better in portrait.

hay! so i had the idea for a song about turning your phone but was having a hard time getting original music composed. i knew i wanted a 90's feel similar to "No Scrubs" so i decided to write the song to the same tune. I printed out the original lyrics and then went line by line and tried to write something that matched the original line but fit into the "turn your phone" theme.
