Those look expensive at $600 each, thats $1200 if you want 2. I'm having a force usa G3 delivered today for $1400us (Australia) most Usa gear is expensive due to the exchange rate. Im guessing the g3 is made in china therefore cheaper here.

I'm really new to to this type of equipment. Worked out at home for years using dumbbells and now transitioning to barbells. I am designing my own home gym in a limited space, on the second floor of my home. I purchased the Titan T2 power rack (71 inches). I wanted the higher version but with 8 foot ceilings it would impede my ability to do full pulls ups. Anyways, do you think this trolley attachment would attach to my T2? I realize Titan makes a lat pull down attachment but that attachment adds almost 2 feet to the rack and takes away from the space I have outside the cage where I plan to do deadlifts.

Rep is really lucky this video didn't come out 6 months ago. I would have probably gone for this over the Athena and Lat pulldown setup. I like the positioning of the weight horns and the ability to go up to 500lbs easily. Athena required me to go selectorized because I'd have no clearance for weight storage on rack (I do love the ease of selectorized though). Not having the 2:1 of Athena would be a major drawback, but acceptable considering that I spent over $3000 on the Athena and Lat/low row selectorized all around. I might have missed it in the video, but what is the weight of the trolley when unloaded? The Athena, at 10lbs, is a little heavy unloaded for my wife to do a few specific movements (shoulder external rotation, cable shoulder lateral raise) and 10lbs is a little high when I'm doing a wrist reverse supination movement with a tricep rope.

I like the idea and the execution is nearly flawless, however they suffer from the usual "small company problems" that all these innovating products suffer from: lack of brand trust, company longevity uncertainty, no real long term guarantee and higher prices. More than likely this product will either die out, stay alive with low niche sales or get bought out by one of the fitness' big companies. The Athena side mount starts at $474 and comes from REP who have really established themselves as the no.2 of the fitness industry (only slightly behind ROGUE), now known for their quality, innovation and customer service vs this system at $599 (WITH an early bird discount that is) from a company with 2 products, no track record and unknown quality. Right now its $949 for a dual Athena vs $1,148 for the Dial Motion equivalent OR $1,267 with the sidewinder, which is the feature that stands out the most. However that is until December 17, and after that what? Is it gonna go up 10%-15% or 20%? Then the REAL price for that setup could be anywhere from $1,300 to over $1,500, which would make this system at around $400-600 more expensive than REP's. Oh and the handle is only included if you buy before the 17th as well, so there's that to...

Amazing review. Looks like Dialed Motion has a great cable set-up. Love the 1-1 ratio cable attachment set-up with less complex pulleys set-up, the trolley system with removable weight pins and space saving design. Just the idea I was looking for my DIY home-gym pulley attachment I'm building at the moment. I was going to build a complex adjustable cable system, and a dedicated lat pull-down/low-row pulley system for my power rack until I came across this idea. However, I couldn't justify the price of the dialed motion pulley system until I saw the price on standard construction/industrial grade SRL (Self Retracting Lifeline) similar to the retractor that dialed motion uses and now I can see why it was priced accordingly.

This is huge for me due to where my rack is positioned in my garage. - Removable weight horns is awesome because my width where the rack is at is limited. Now I can walk past without banging shins. - No cable at the bottom. I’m ordering this and selling my Rep laT pull-down. Was considering Athena but this is more versatile and I don’t have to buy the extra 2 posts.

While I have no doubt the quality of these are great, I think it's really hard to justify the price of the 2-trolley system when you can get an entire rack + smith machine + functional trainer all-in-one with basically all the attachments you need for about the same price by getting a Mikolo M4 (even went on sale for $999 over black friday). Now it probably won't feel quite as refined as something that costs literally 2x to 10x as much, but I think it's more than enough for the vast majority of people who are lifting under 400lbs in the rack, and it won't limit most people from getting fantastic workouts and getting the results they are after. Would love to see some coverage of the Mikolo M4 (Gen 5 was just released in October 2023) as I think it's one of the best value options on the market and I don't know of anything else that provides so much functionality and versatility for a similar price.

I'm not a huge fan of those do everything Chinese racks. In my experience things that try to do everything often do nothing well. I've seen again and again how that type of product is designed by someone who's often unfamiliar with what they're actually designing for. I'm not saying that's always the case but I know a few of the big players in the home gym space have used a similar approach. I've been sent documents and videos showing me the process and I've used so many pieces of equipment designed that way that I tend to steer away from it. That being said if they reach out and people want to see reviews on that type of stuff I'll be more than happy to give it a shot.

I can do 3-5 different exercises in the time it might take people to change the weight stack. I bet if you took the value of your time over 3-5 years and how much time you save with selectorized cables its basically FREE and 500% more enjoyable. There's definitely a few great solutions that will work well for different situations. tbh no one is ever going to pull 500 lbs per side (or 1000 lbs in total). most advanced lifters can't do lat pulldowns over 200lbs, and that's the "highest weight" cable exercise I can think of. that's the same as people justifying their purchase of a $4000 graphics card because "it reaches 500 FPS bro". like yeah but what use do you have for 500 FPS

seems like you are pricing the functional trainer for DialedMotion and comparing it with the Bells Lat Pulldown which are two different things. You should be comparing it to the DialedMotion Sidewinder which is effectively their lat pulldown solution and the price for that is $480 usd. Or maybe 1 trolley + sidewinder arm at $720usd is more comparable.
@t_plauche11 ай бұрын
@@minhinh0 I see what you mean, and that’s fair. I mean to say that I the only way to justify this price is to say that it can compensate for a whole functional trainer without occupying more space. That trolley set up is nice, I fear they may be a little late to get a seat at the table though. Two factors bring worry, first, there seems to be a lot of plastic within the retractor part, I dont know if there is but from the pics Gluck showed there looked to be plastic, so one questions the durability and secondly the price seems rather high. Coming into a flooding market of cable set ups your price needs to be lower than others or your product needs to blow the others out of the water. I see neither here but it is a good product if they use a competing price. I saw just yesterday a stand alone functional trainer with dual 200 lb. Stacks for $1299 from Signature Fitness I understand that Signature Fitness is a budget company but their equipment looks to be of high quality material for their level. Man, I love the concept and the execution. That price though... Yeah, I love the idea of being able to move the trolley around and keep it out of your way, I move around my rack a lot, but is that worth $300 over an Athena?
@GlucksGym11 ай бұрын
With the price we have to consider the fact that they had to order 250 units to make the minimum requirement to launch this. That's a huge chunk of money upfront. I love that Rep and other large companies can bring their prices down some (even if those are often a bit high) but this is a 2 person start up and it's very well refined so I understand the pricing some.
@KingSizeKuma11 ай бұрын
The problem is that they paid that upfront and instead of the pricing going down after that, it's actually gonna increase that's what "EARLY BIRD" pricing means. I've followed you for years (from my main account, this is my at work one) and I've never seen you react and respond to comments the way you're doing for this product... I'm starting to wonder if you have a dog in this fight or you're finally starting to sell snake oil like some of the other gym equipment reviewers have done. Either way I don't blame you, everyone's got bills to pay after all. @@GlucksGym

You didn’t talk about their proprietary cables Gluck! I asked one of them if they were gonna sell the cables as a standalone (because I’d definitely use those on my other machines too) and they said they hadn’t thought about it, but that it was a good idea!

This looks awesome! Does anyone know if this works with sliding lever arms also installed on the front uprights? I've got the BOS Hydra sliding lever arms and would love to have these cables on the front too.
@dialedmotion8 ай бұрын
Lever arms are a bit tricky to work with. They take up a lot of real-estate on the rack / post. It is possible to run them both but it will limit the height adjustment and probably make both pieces a little less useful. -James

Id be interested to know if the cable in the retractor ends up getting wedged between the wrapped cable when pulling heavy weights. When I think about my lat a low row cable connecting points, they’re all very simple end points. With this, the cable being loaded within the retractor is lying on top of the rest of the cable wound up within the device. I’m curious if sometimes it would get wedged between the rest of the cable and difficult to get unwedged.
@dialedmotion9 ай бұрын
I see what you are saying. The hub that the cable spools around and the cable sheathing are both pretty slick. The wraps will rearrange themselves a bit under heavy load but we've never had an issue with it or had it get wedged. -James

I like the trolley set up, it might sell, but it might not because of a few factors. The sidewinder is out, I definitely would not even consider buying it because of a few reasons. The price is kinda high for the trolley considering the Athena is out there. Everybody is going with a well known company over a small private company for obvious reasons. With all the cable options out there now, when people are asked to spend their hard earned money, I just don't see them spending their money on this piece of equipment over some of the others for a few reasons. It's different for Gluck because he got it for free so he is going to be a little biased towards the company that sent it. It's a human response so not his fault, we all would be the same if we had free gym equipment arriving at our house regularly. IMO, he should get all the equipment he reviews for free. I wonder if Gluck wanted a cable set up and he had to pay for it with his own money,, which system out there would Gluck get, I think I know but I might be wrong. What do Y'all think he would get.
@GlucksGym11 ай бұрын
I think the appeal of the Sidewinder is you can run it on a single post. So you can put it on Squat stands for example. I think these have several advantages over other systems but whatever people pick has to work for their situations. I always have to remind myself what I want/need isn't what someone else does.
@bobbyhunt300911 ай бұрын
@@GlucksGym Oh Yeah, I think we both utilize empathy before we speak. One of the reasons for not getting the sidewinder is in my opinion nobody wants a single cable set up anymore, just from my observation as they are very hard to load and unload, there is always gonna be some free swinging of the unit and there are way better options. I dont see anybody spending $500 on a weight pin single cable option, now honestly do you? Yeah, it's nice now that you have it but are you spending that kinda money for that?
@GlucksGym11 ай бұрын
@bobbyhunt3009 not everyone can fit a 4 or 6 post rack. I happen to have a follower on the national powerlifting team who uses squat stands because he doesn't have the space for a full rack. There's a lot of reasons a lot of people buy different things that work for them. People spend over a grand on a barbell, what do I know about them and their situation? I like this system and I've spent more on dumber things.

Outstanding review! Great design! I did buy a selectorized Athena PR-5000 half rack though. No regrets. I tie both trolleys with Dasking brand resistance band bar. No need for lat pull down/low row or Ares. If I need more weight, will add via Gympin.
@GlucksGym11 ай бұрын
Thanks. I'm guessing that means Darko shorty/longy bar. I use mine to combine the stacks of my Ares because that stupid banana clip sucks.
@leftyrighty605911 ай бұрын
I saw the Darko Longy bar, but bought the Gympin Holey bar instead through your affiliate link and it arrived yesterday. It works better than what I was using (Dasking) to connect my two Athena trolleys. And I also use the Holey bar on my landmine. (Also just received my Ironmaster bench with leg attachments, which I bought through your affiliate link as well). I attached the Gympin Holey Bar to the Ironmaster leg attachment weight horn. And clipped my Athena cables to the Gympin Holey bar. Now I have a cable machine for leg extensions, which have a better force curve over using plates on the weight horn. Thanks for all of your great reviews this year and the Black Friday links! I saved significant money and bought all the right things thanks to your reviews.

I have a Rogue HR-2. Would this be a good fit with my rack, or would I need to upgrade it? I thought about converting it to a 390F, but I'm not sure that'd be enough.
@dialedmotion11 ай бұрын
The sidewinder and trolley will both work but with some limitations. You will only be able to adjust the carriage with the swivel pulley up to where the crossmember connects the posts. You will also have reduced cable stroke due to the shorter available trolley travel on the 70” back posts. Your cable stroke with the trolley will be equal to the amount of open post minus about 10”. Connecting the single pulley mounts at different heights is not a problem. You would definitely get better functionality with the 390F. One cool thing is you could get the cable system see if you’re happy with the functionality on the HR2 and then upgrade later and take the cable system with you.

I’ve seen the belt squat attachment but it looked like they had to start the movement at the bottom and not at the top. Is there a way to start the belt squat at the top?? Also, the Darko attachment seems to be better because it can go up or down over your knees in increments but the one that dialed motion shows is fixed. The Darko lifting one can also be a footplate for rows. The dialed motion trolley unit looks LEGIT though! :)

On a 6-post you’ll have clearance even down to 16” crossmembers. Weight plates are about 17.75”. With a 16” crossmember you have 1.5+16+1.5=19” because the trolley weight horn and weight storage are both centered on their respective posts.

OR are the cables design for a specific rack lenght like 24inck, 30inch etc....??? do you think that will be a good idea? I already have a selectorized separate FT and also a seperate selectorized lat pull down, however I would like to ether sell the FT or lat pull down to conbine it in rhino rack to make some space for a sledtred. The length of the cable available when the pulley’s are at the lowest setting for things such as standing curls? Might be a deal breaker.
