I'm working on making this for my 20' pontoon boat right now. But, the boat is a little heavier. So I'm drilling the wheel axle holes on the jack to 5/8" And using a 5/8" axle. It will make rolling even easier. And more precise. I think. I'm also gonna weld up a trailer latch for my atv to move it around. I use the atv in tight spaces. Thanks for the design. I'm just beefing it up a little.

I’d like to see how easily you were able to move your boat. I need to do the same for my 17’ bowrider but thinking it might be too heavy, plus I have to move mine over packed dirt in an alley. I’ve seen 3-4 people all help push while 1 guy at the front steers on the original plastic wheel on smooth concrete. Do you think same could be done with this mod, maybe 12” wheels? 1 guy steers and pulls while 3 at the back push? My boat is 1,800 lbs with an aluminum trailer. Don’t know total but I’d guess right at 2,000. I need to do this to get boat nose in, into my back yard to service it. Thanks.

This is a great idea, thanks for sharing!! I’d love to use it, but I park on a pretty steep incline and need a solid foot to secure the trailer to keep it from rolling. I guess I could have two jacks, but that is just more complicated.

2 of those little yellow wheel chocks . . . And connect them together with cheap dog chain just far enough apart to snug the tires, then a length to bolt them to the frame
@LateralThinkerer4 ай бұрын
This is a brilliant adaptation (and much cheaper than the pre-fabricated kits). What is the length of the spacers used on the wheel axle? I see you started with PVC and went to copper fittings with those.
@GwinnettLawns4 ай бұрын
@@LateralThinkerer I don’t remember exactly it was a little more than an inch but it’s going to depend on what wheel you choose and also how wide the spaces on the trailer that you have that holds the wheel so everybody should be different.
@freshboimusik3133 ай бұрын
Why did you go to the copper? What was wrong with the PVC? @@GwinnettLawns
@GwinnettLawns3 ай бұрын
@@freshboimusik313 I felt the copper would be a little more durable, and I already had some on hand. I could’ve also use some black iron pipe as well if I’ve had it.

To build the modified off-road capable trailer dolly, the presenter used the following parts: 1. **10-inch long, half-inch size bolt**: Serves as the axle for the new wheel setup. 2. **Lock washer**: Used to secure the bolt and prevent it from loosening. 3. **Nut**: Fits onto the bolt to secure the wheel assembly. 4. **Four flat washers**: Placed at various points in the assembly to ensure smooth operation and distribute pressure evenly. 5. **Two pieces of half-inch PVC**: Used as spacers to ensure the wheel aligns properly and rotates freely. 6. **Two half-inch black iron pipe nipples**: Threaded on both ends, these serve as part of the handle assembly for maneuvering the dolly. 7. **Two half-inch malleable tees**: Used in the handle assembly for grip and leverage. 8. **One five-foot piece of black iron pipe**: Threaded on both ends, forms the main handle for pushing or pulling the trailer. 9. **10-inch pneumatic wheel**: Chosen for its size and air-filled design to smoothly navigate over uneven terrain and obstacles. 10. **Copper or black iron spacers**: Additional spacers for precise wheel fitting and rotation. These materials were selected for their durability, availability, and the practicality of assembling a robust off-road trailer dolly. The emphasis was on using standard parts that can be easily sourced from home improvement stores like Home Depot or Lowe's.
