Hi Chris. I have been watching your channel for years, you have cost me thousands 😂 I have never made a camera equipment purchase without cheking it out on your channel and have also discovered equipment I did not know about. And now I need to go to Thanet! I am not a Christen as Christianity simply did not feel right to me. I consider myself to be a Buddhist although maybe not as dedicated as I perhaps should be. But I follow the core teachings and many of these are similer to the Cristen core teachings. Thank you for posting this video as it gives off a feeling of warmth and compassion. I admire the dedication and strength you have in your faith. Your wish for everyone to be happy feels very genuine. As Bill and Ted said "Be Excellent to Each Other" I look forward to your reviews over the next year, Happy Christmas to you and your family.

Cristopher why you mentioned that Canon made from plastic? It’s magnesium alloy but not plastic. Maybe you have to explore deeper Cabon technology. I faced with same mistake with headphones review of Meze Lyric. It also made from magnesium alloy, but very often it was confused with plastic.

Christmas has got nothing to do with Christianity. Where in your Bible do you find Santa Claus, Christmas trees? It is also proven that Jesus wasn't even born during Christmas. Your church tried to ban Yule. When they couldn't. They moved Jesus's birth and changed the name of the celebration to take over and take control of the pagan celebration. I'm kind of impressed about how you sneak in your god in your photography videos. Even though I can't agree in your faith, I keep watching your videos, because you simply are the best and most informative reviewer of camera gear. I personally do not feel a need to believe in a religion. I find religion far to conflicting with science and reality. And when religion is the main source of wars and conflicts, I can't help thinking 😉
@Paul_Rohde Жыл бұрын
Your sentiment, heart, and message is in a good place, as well as the light you give in return. However, I have an exception to Christians saying that historians say that Jesus was a real historical figure. Only in the circle of Christians (and in altered form from related religions). If it were so, the historic information of Jesus would be quite different, without big moments of hits (e.g. birth and death), and misses, (e.g. almost all youth from an ostentatious start, and young adulthood). It would seem Jesus is an amalgamation of holy symbols and beliefs of times leading up to the era. The sentiment, heart, and outlook is real. Not that I'm accusing you of this at all, I would wish that Christians could have their beliefs without the need to have everybody else through dogma to have the same belief to make it be more real & true for them. Another major religion, unforgivingly often with force, is currently a larger issue for this. External objectivity, honesty to self, and an enquiring mind, all as much that is reasonable should allow an understanding to be more reliably worthy. You may even find another or more with the same insight independently without the need to be indoctrinated from the same dogma. If a dogma would disappear if it were not for a continuous stream of passing it on, and new external objectivity would not be able to rediscover the principles or teachings, what timeless inherent value in reality does it have?
@dmalovic Жыл бұрын
So great to see people like you who disagree on some aspect, but are respectful. Thank you for that. If I may offer a nugget for this great dilemma, I would say that there is a lot of noise about the whole real, of faith, and that most big religions, if not all have many proponents who are the worst possible advertisement for what they believe in. I live in a country where people claim faith, but many times say they don’t believe in God. They unfortunately don’t live the very basics of their faith, like the Christian love your enemies, or put the needs of others above your own. I feel, knowing a bit more about Christianity that it is like an onion, as they would say in Shrek. You need to peel to get to deeper levels. But the first one for you might be to look into whether Jesus really existed or not. From my research, based on what atheist theologians say, it is very irresponsible intellectually not to believe that Jesus lived and was crucified. Now, that does not prove that he was God, but it is a great starting place. Not sure I can post links here, but search for Bart Erhman, there are some very short videos he has on the subject. That might or might not open up a desire to dig deeper. I usually say that even if the message of Christianity is just wishful thinking, if we heeded its true message, it would transform the world. Call me crazy, but I do believe only love can overcome evil. And this world is mostly in the eye for an eye mode. All the best to you, and I hope this poor attempt at an answer was not over the top.
@christopherfrost Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment! You are referring to my statement in the video that: "Barely any serious historian in the world, no matter what their religion, denies that Jesus actually existed, lived, and was killed by the Roman authorities." This is factually correct. Even the most famous sceptics and atheists, like Bart Ehrman, Richard Dawkins, and virtually every historian of the period, agree with those things. Even the very tiny number who believe that Jesus was only a mythological figure, like atheist Robert Price, admit that their views run contrary to modern scholarship. A great book to read on this subject as a primer would be 'The Case for Christ', by Lee Strobel. I think I understand what you're trying to say regarding 'dogma' although I think the word itself is unhelpful. We all have 'dogmatic' beliefs of one kind or another - and they're not necessarily unhealthy! Even a statement such as "We should reject all dogma" would in itself be a dogmatic one, ironically. One person's 'indoctrinated dogma' is another's 'imparted truth', so there's often a slightly charged word game going on there. Regarding your wish that "Christians could have their beliefs without the need to have everybody else through dogma to have the same belief to make it be more real & true for them" - I certainly don't know any Christians who feel this way, although if you had something specific in mind regarding this then I'd be happy to hear. Christianity is certainly a historical faith that relies on being 'passed on' down the centuries, as you say, but that doesn't necessarily make it untrue, or unhelpful. Anyway - take care and have a happy new 2024!
@tonyhayes9827 Жыл бұрын
Yes that's the point of Christianity - it's a historical religion. Many `gospels' were written four of which were found to be authentic. The rest, spurious at best and bunkum at worse. Thank you for your witness. Christianity is faith based on evidence. These days we prefer to `believe' in fairy tales like Harry Potter and Star Wars.... and we accuse Christianity of being a fairy tale!...`seriously deluded we are now,' as Yoda might say - lol. Beware of thinking our sins are forgiven once and for all though. We can cut ourselves from Christ through our personal sins. It's why we have confession.
