@1one3_Racing3 жыл бұрын
Its 100% the best way to do it. I've built several car trailers of different design for loading low cars. I tried tilt and one where the axles slide forward and one like this with no suspension. On a small truck with hydraulics we even made a hook/slide that lay the bed on the ground and you could drive on with just 50mm clearance. But there's always issues. Like scraping and not being able to open doors. With roll cage and full containment seat, not being able to open the door is a huge hassle. Remote airbag is well worth the cost. Squat the trailer, drive on, raise it to max height, get out, drop it to ride height. If you get hung up you just raise it up. Etc.

Put a cover over the winch to keep it from getting wet when it rains! With velcro so you can get access easily when you're going to use it! Also, an area somewhere close to the winch to keep a tarp (folded) to cover your cars to prevent sun/rain/snow(?) away!!! That's my contribution Ricky!

The only thing that I do different with my trailer hookup is ---- I run a heavy welding cable back from the truck battery positive to a plug disconnect at the rear bumper to power the winch. Sexy looking trailer! I did the same thing to my first trailer and wish I had gone with the aluminum diamond plate instead of steel. Also wish I had used bed liner instead of paint. Nice job cleaning it up. Like others have said, add some inside skirts to your fenders… also, I never saw anything holding the battery secure other than the plastic box being bolted down. On my bolt on "D" ring tie downs I cut some strips of rubber/ plastic mud flap1/2 inch X width of the bolt down strap of mub flaps to fill the gap between the "D" ring and the trailer frame they are bolted to. This give the "D" rings some cushion so that they don't rattle going down the road, but still allow the "D" rings to swivel to the angles they needed. And they last for years. Currently my mud flap anti rattle strips are going on 25 years...

The diamond plate looks nice, but still gets REALLY slick if it is wet. I'd paint that and throw some sand in the paint to provide some grip. Also, I'd build a battery box under the trailer. The optima won't mind being on its side, so a maintenance door in the floor of the trailer will help prevent battery theft. Same for the winch, really. I'd build a shroud for it and mount the fairlead to that. Make it MUCH more difficult for someone to steal it.

That's a dope trailer setup. I think you should add a solar panel to maintain the battery when you aren't using the trailer. And maybe grip tape down on that diamond plate because when it gets wet I can assume it will be fairly slick. Maybe with that tubular steel you had add some bracing under the winch plate, add more Drings just for more securement options.. And lastly finished off the area on the trailer upfront under the winch with diamond plate.
