Quick tip…lightly wet the board before you brand it. It will stop that board from splitting like it did.
@Badaim117
@Badaim117 Жыл бұрын
The expectation/hope of being paid $100 an hour for this level of effort is a little out of touch... even at $200 USD, the board is quite expensive for what it is as large end grain cutting boards can be bought for a similar price. Don't get me wrong, the board turned out looking nice, but I do think expectations should be tempered when selling something so ubiquitous. Anyways, thanks for the video and merry Christmas to you.

Nice work, but $270 for a flat, mostly featureless board comprised of wood processed and glued simply is a bit ridiculous, regardless of time spent. It is a charcuterie board sold for $270, not a "$270 charcuterie board".

@Michael Willson you can fund end grain one off maple or walnut boards for around 150 to 200 and edge grain for around 100 to 150 o etsy or other makers. This is more of a novelty KZbin merch purchase. Even the shipping to Oregon is gonna cost around d 50$ from Toronto.

This table arrived well packaged and on time. kzbin.infoUgkxn94T8Mu1iMnsLCMNOI9srXSsLkI4JXKW Like another reviewer advised, I pulled everything out and made sure everything was included (everything was!). I built it alone and it took me about an hour. The color is great and for the price the lift part works well. As others have mentioned, it’s not the smoothest opening/closing, but it works. The screws do show, but I plan to order white sticker covers if that bothers us too much. Really happy with this table! UPDATE: it’s been over a year since we got this coffee table and we still love it! It gets HEAVY use as our dining table, foot rest, and school desk. Over time, the opening and closing mechanism has gotten smoother. I added a new photo with the white screw cover stickers. They blend in perfectly and make it look a little cleaner. 100% recommend!!!

Hi Morley, I’ve been able to get my wife to watch your great KZbin videos with me. Very inspiring. What are your thoughts about repurposing finished hardwood furniture and running it through a planer or table saw? Just wondering if you have any health concerns? I haven’t done a charcuterie or cutting board but this has been my thought for a while, why not use old furniture and remove the finish and use it for a build… Curious on your thoughts!? Thanks for your content! Keep it up, looking forward to your CD build!

I wish people just left stuff by the road here, but garbage collection where I live only picks up containers that don't fit anything fun, and you have to bring anything else to the recycling dump yourself, where picking up cool stuff other people left behind is not allowed. If you do leave something like a couch sitting outside people will just call the municipal government on you and you get fined :(

I'm gonna be harsh. This guy is no real woodworker. Take away his powertools and he is unable to create something like this. He's neglecting health issues as wood dust can cause cancer. Any wood. His time on the project is off as well, as any woodworker knows it's not just time worked on the project, but half of the time is behind the screens working on tools, switching and maintaining stuff. Any woodworker knows the temperature he was working in is devestating foor wood. As there where cracks already which he didn't address, I'm sure in the future when the wood is in a house on temperature, it's gonna crack further. Also, because the board is raised and only glued and not worked before the glue, chances are, it will crack on a glue seem as well. The price is also beyond real.

That being said the slats that held the mattess are actually great looking ply pieces! Slightly warped, but all to the exact same bend, whick works for a unique look for my intended coffee table. Im turning them up on their side, and using flourecent acrylic strips between each slat. Not sure which color yet, but work in an acrylic fabrication shop, so no problem securing parts 😁

I thought you have to have one face of the project already flat in order for a planer to flatten out the other surface. Is the planing here just to clean up the wood and the project does not necessarily have a flat top? I'm still learning so just wondering, thanks.
@andrewoatman6745
@andrewoatman6745 Жыл бұрын
Flattening one side before planing allows you to get the two surfaces parallel to each other, which isnt strictly necessary for a board like this. But the planer will make each surface flat no matter what, unless you take too deep of plane passes. You should read some old popular woodworking articles about stock prep.

Because he is reusing wood from furniture it was probably flat already. My makerspace does not let us use reclaimed wood in the planer and jointer though because of the risk of hardware hidden within it damaging the blades. They are very expensive to replace!

I asked my girlfriend if she thought the audio was synced and she said yes...but im pretty sure it is like 1 or 2 frames off. Then I ordered the Rhode Go and ultimately decided I wanted the flexibility of doing everything from the actual device itself as well as I wanted the charging case, so I canceled that and ordered the DJI. If your planning to sell you're wooden crafts on instagram you can make a small shop on the app with a new account that's linked too your main one just to make things a little more easier instead of having 3 buyers message you at the same time the first one to click buy and do the information on the instagram shop will be able to get it. It's like a mini etsy.
