I'm going to take this idea and turn it into a D&D artifact lol. Ring of Explosions: an artifact from another world depicting strange glyphs around the edge. When worn, any explosions caused by the wearer, either directly or not, is multiplied by 1d4+1. The multiplier affects both the blast damage and radius, and all explosions now sound like a gods thunderous voice simply yelling "BOOM" NOBODY better tell me this already exists, I'm homebrewing right now! 😂

I didn't know ring stretchers existed (at least, not in that format). I've seen the solid type you use with a hammer, but not the taper fit ones. That's a really neat tool to have in a shop. Could be useful for more than just rings.

Rest of the casing could be turned into a set of rings as well, plain brass, to go with the cap ring as a matched set. The other rings on a chain necklace.

0:09 I believe I know exactly what gun this shell casing was for. The M21A1 round was fired by the Colt Mk 12 20mm cannon, used by the US Navy post-WWII. The "51" is the year of manufacture, 1951, and "Gibson" indicates it was manufactured by the Gibson Tractor Company. Technically, this isn't an "anti-aircraft" round, as that would imply it was fired from the ground. Also, "shell" refers to the casing + projectile. This is a "shell casing".

For someone that deals with alot of metal and heat. Your hands looks really soft.

Hey, that is a very nice video, just straight to the topic, short, professionally done. But I have a question: is that "end slice" (that thin piece you cut off using a lathe) really only 2cm in external diameter? What is the internal diameter of the finished ring (in mm)?

Hi Robinson Foundry! I really like your videos about lost PLA castings. I am a drummer and always dreamt about owning a bronze cast drum. It would be 14" wide and 6.5" high, with 1/5" shell thickness. How would you attempt casting such an item? What kind of mold do you think is right for this purpose? I think, sand could be a way to go, since plaster in this volume could be expensive and prone to crack, ceramic needs a furnace big enough to burn it out. Any other advice on how to go about this?
