That tree has all the bones to make a marvelous tree as the rest of the structure grows in and it refines. I am kinda jealous lol

It started with a one gallon can landscaping shrub I bought...so you can do it too,. When I startd...I often wonder where those trees come from.Some are incredibly valuable collected ancient trees...this is to be made like one., Just do it!

For those of us coming to the hobby later in life, I hope you will be offering some of this larger material for sale. Unfortunately, I likely don’t have 20 years to wait for my own “ground-grown” starting material.

Yes I will; not gonna take it with me. There will be "production trees, "collector" trees for sale, and then there are special trees "my babies" available for a good offer...and I will donate the proceeds for charitable purposes. This is my current plan....So, make me an offer for any tree I show for both of us to "DO GOOD".

Love your excitement. It is contagious. I just talked to my husband about removing some poorly shaped juniper we planted 15 or 20 years ago. Now I know what I will try to do and I am excited to see what shape I might have to make bonsai! Tha k you!

Milton, many thanks from Vermont. 🙏 Your channel was my first introduction to bonsai. I am now swimming in nursery stock, yamadori, , as well as field grown trees in the work and seedlings! I have never been able to dabble in things and bonsai is no different. The thing that surprised me is how therapeutic the processes are. Nurturing with an eye towards the future seems like a recipe for a long, well lived life. Enjoy the lemonade!

I think you began with a tree with multiple possibilities. Then took it to its next level of development. Envious of your seasonal weather patterns - to get such regrowth in a short period. Looking forward to followup videos on it. Destined to be a fantastic informal upright.

Wow that's a super tree ! Thanks for sharing it with us. I live in Spain and I have collected about 100 olive tree saplings, they were on a neglected roundabout next to my house I collected them and a few weeks later they came and sprayed the roundabout and killed everything on it. They were about 2" tell and now they are about 12" . But I have to wit for them to grow. Do you have any olive trees ?

Beautiful tree! Do you provide any special care for the trees you dig from your yard before working them?
@MiltonChang-ee6rq4 ай бұрын
Not really for Juniper because they can grow with very little roots. I try to preserve as much roots as possible...and cut off a lot of the branches to consereve water...and for trees with deep tap roots, it takes severa months to dig around to encourage fiborousl roots. Have fun!
@patchymcq4 ай бұрын
bravo! that tree looks like a dragon or snake with the shari on the trunk. My question is how to find the design if the tree has multi trunk or branches too thick to scale?
@MiltonChang-ee6rq4 ай бұрын
When you have lemon, make lemonade. Not being a wise guy...use what is there as a starting point...cut drastically to shape (subtrative) and then let nature takes over...grow (additive)...and then cut again..,.,march step wise to your ideal tree,. Thanks fore being a loyal viewer.

Please please stop butchering potential lovely bonsai material. You shouldn't be taking anywhere near that amount of foliage off at once even a deciduous tree would struggle. I'm begging you to stop showing people who want to get into bonsai such a brutal way of pruning lovely material.. ,🙏
