Along with others, I congratulate you on your Robust American Beauty! It doesn't get any better than that for a wood turner! Enjoy!

Nice new toy! Always nice to get something that you know will provide years of entertainment. I see LOTS of folks commenting about the sliding headstock feature.....AND that’s one thing I really have enjoyed about my ShopSmith woodworking set-up. Sliding headstock! Looking forward to more & more projects!

Absolutely love my American Beauty. I bought it through Trent about 3 years ago now, maybe 2, god time does fly. Anyway, it's the best thing I ever did. Congrats on your new machine.

That's a fine looking piece of machinery Sam. The moving headstock is certainly a great feature. Also the rotating tailstock. Those two had to be worth the price. This lathe should serve you well for well into the future. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay healthy.

Hi Sam, I see you’re loving the AB’s many features and add ones. The sliding headstock and tail stock tilt away are extremely useful. I noticed the gas shock assist on the tilt away, makes it so easy to move that heavy tail stock up/down as needed. I’m sure you’re going to be enjoying that AB for a long time. Cheers, Tom

I think I am all set.....I can't imagine getting another lathe. (I still have my little Jet lathe). I hope you can my setup one day. The Billings club is planning on holding an actual symposium in September. We are talking about it and setting up demos etc. Sam

Hey Sam, love the American Beauty. I certainly love mine and the tilt away is great Brent convinced me and a year later I am convinced it was the right decision. But I wonder about the war green wood plan. I cut my blanks and seal the ends but I dont turn them green. I might be 5 or more years before I turn them. Early is 3 years at best. Without trying to put you in a bad place can you help us understand why we would do it differently.

I prefer to turn green wood as I find it easier on the tools and it's a much faster process. I turn pieces until their approximately 90% completed, date and seal the piece, and then set it aside to dry. I experience far less cracking that way and with the bulk of the wood gone only have to wait 6-9 months for the piece to finish drying for final turning. I'm not a big believer in right or wrong ways with respects to wood prep...more or less what works for you. Anyways, I find this way works well for me in my location. good luck...j

It appears that your shop has great lighting but I was wondering if you have any thoughts about the lightning on your American Beauty?
