@@tdeo2141 They didn't cancel Pokemon, despite all the "it's for the devil, made by the devil, this is satanic" whining that came from American mothers before the 2000s. @Geth-Who4 ай бұрын
I always love the careful buildup with the raptors. You never see one until this point, but that train-brakes-in-hell shrieking is almost the first thing you hear in the whole movie. They've used sound alone to denote the raptors, so even though this is the first time you see more than a brief eye shot of one, you know exactly what you're looking at, because that nightmare of a scream has been with you the whole way.

I was 15 when this came out and I distinctly remember this movie being marketed as a family, kid friendly movie. It's PG-13. Walking out of the movie theater, we were like "That ain't kids movie." It just goes to show you how the ratings have change. Keep in mind the 1976 jaws-ploitation movie "Grizzly" is rated PG. And it's WAY bloodier than Jaws is.
@YoureMrLebowski4 ай бұрын
Grizzly was great!
@scottb30344 ай бұрын
It wasn't really marketed that way, it just didn't do any work to dissuade parents who assumed dinosaur meant family, as well as the Spielberg name. Anyone that read the book knew it wasn't going to be land before time. As for Grizzly it was PG simply because PG-13 wouldn't be created for another 8 years and it was too tame to be R.

Really interesting scene to cover! I actually went back the other day and watched the compilation you did for the T-Rex escape scene. This movie is really chock full of tense moments that’d make great compilations. Hell, I’d say even the lunch debate scene would be an interesting scene to see people react to. Although after that video you made doing reactions to Boromir’s death, I’d really love to see you do a compilation of reactions to Gandalf’s battle against the Balrog in The Two Towers. One of the most amazing openings to a movie I think I’ve ever seen.

This movie was in fact not marketed to kids. It was marketed as an action-adventure movie 65 million years in the making and teased the violence clear as day. People just assumed that Spielberg and the subject being dinosaurs it was a family film. The source material and all the promotional stuff should have made it quite clear... then again people don't like reading books.
