From the pen of veteran composer and music educator Robert Longfield, Turning Point is a bold overture-style original work for strings, designed for festival or contest use. A solemn opening is following by a rhythmic modal theme, contrasted with a expressive middle section. The movement returns to the driving "A" theme and then into an impressive full ensemble coda.
