Thank you. I’m a diy guy and have a small 4” lathe with 3 jaw and need to end drill and tap some 3/8” aluminum sq. stock and I believe you’ve saved me some money with this ideal.

call me stupid but if you are just gonna turn it into a radius why not just get round bar? also is that sleeve stainless or aluminum?
@therussianmachinists24093 жыл бұрын
I think the answer is quite simple. Lots of plate material can only be bought as plate. Well, or it really hard to find in circular form. I think these square pieces in particular were cut from plate and we just had to turn them to make them circular :)

If your looking for unusual compositions of metal stock sometimes you gotta take what they got and work with it....the initial interrupted cut must of been hard on the inserts tho being stainless

Why have you done rounding in the bore, you could have done square slotting, I am getting better results with square slot.
@therussianmachinists24096 жыл бұрын
Mohammed Hussain Bagdadi hey! I can't open your url for some reason. Do you mean slots that look like keyways? I've never thought about that. These squares are different from eachother. Some are wider and some not. I'm not sure how square slots will hold concentrisity with changing dimensions. What do you think? Jimmy
