Turning the KX450X into the ULTIMATE Woods Bike! (G2, Powerlever, & More!)

While you certainly CAN ride the KX450X on the trails, there are some things that could improve the bike for the woods immensely. Now, she is close to being dialed!

I have the G2 on my yz250, turned it into a woods machine. then I added a steahly 9oz. just rolls over slick roots here in the Eastern woods. I have been using full wrap hand guards for well over 20 years, have never ever been hurt from them, they have saved my hands from being crushed numerous times though. I will never not have them.

I’m 52 years old been racing my whole adult life. I’ve never met anyone who was hurt because of closed hand guards. I have broke my hand twice because I didn’t have them. Same thing both times, the grip got pushed down into the dirt and mud and crushed my hand against the levers. This is all woods riding I’m talking about.

I have closed handguards on my dirtbike and they have saved me from many falls 👌🏼 I’ve never heard that myth about broken hands because of closed handguards. My friend has those same Acerbis handguards as in the video and they didn’t even last 3 days 😂 the left one broke off cuz theyre made of plastic 👎🏻

Bro.....Install the Acerbis X Factory hand guards..........saves your hands 100% of the time ! Bro......those flat trails are EASY !!!!!!!!!!!! Get into the steep rock climbing stuff and you will need to add 2-3 teeth to the back sprocket!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers !

I have Acerbis X-Factor handguards on my KX450X it has saved my levers & grips from so many falls. Also you can adjust the throttle tube slack if you want it tighter

I just picked up a 23 KX450X, I noticed you got it to lug better in this video compared to your first video, what mods did you do it if you don't mind, I know I'm definitely ordering a fan kit first, but how bout gearing ?

how hard is it to pull throttle body off the kx/klx family of bikes. I just got a 300 and wana try the secondary throttle plate delete. and I can't figure out how to get it out.

Not terrible at all. Maintenance access on the KX is generally pretty good since they are expected to be torn apart for race teams I would assume. The KLX has some tricky parts to removing the throttle body. You have to twist it the right way to get it to come out

I got rid of my klx 250 for lack of power and suspension in the dirt I loved the low maintenance of the klx so I've been considering the klx 300r what do you think and how's the maintenance on the kx450x

The low maintenance will still follow with the 300R. The suspension will be slightly better since it is off road focused and comes with a bit more travel. Powerwise, you will notice a difference. However, it may only "scratch that itch" for a little while and you'll be looking to upgrade again. If you are content with the power and realize it as a play bike, you will be happy with it forever. The maintenance is not too bad on the KX. At the end of the day, it is a high comp motor with 4 strokes. Change the oil, clean the filter, check the valve clearances. If it starts running funny, you know something is up.

I'd say 50 on the low end and maybe 70 on the high end? Depending on the type of riding I do of course.

I can hear how snappy that bike is when you give it throttle. Maybe do the 20percent on the throttle instead of the 10. Does the 21 have the different colored map plugs? Maybe run the mildest map plug for it. Sick bike, i like it

Thanks! It does have different mappings. The black one seemed more snappy oddly enough due to it being a bit richer. That's just my guess. I probably will switch out the throttle cam to see if it can be tamed a bit more.

Black is the mild. Green stock. White fast. Throttle tamer 20% is great. You get used to flags. Got wrap around on my sherco woods bike.
