I can't say for doll customizing specifically, but for painting I find that the difference between student and artist grade acrylic is pretty significant. They're much more pigmented and less ornery to work with from my experience.

As a non binary person, I've worn all this outfit in some form before XD I love a good graphic tee and Kapree pants combo. The only thing I haven't done is a mullet. I've wanted to for a while, but I have no patience to grow out my hair. Throw in way too many rings and some homemade earrings and you've got a good chunk of NB peeps lol Great work! They look rad!

Artist Grade Acrylics are quite a worthwhile investment for this sort of project! it sticks better and is much more opaque imo

Army Painter has kits with decent quality and likely more colors than needed. I suppose Blood for the Blood God red might be a bit niche though

im nonbinary and i think the doll turned out pretty cool! their hair turned out sick! the concept of androgyny is something that those who strive for it tend to struggle with since the idea of not looking masculine or feminine in a society that will try to shove you in one of those boxes is incredibly hard, but i think you did a good job portraying one of the ways people go for it :D im glad you mentioned that there are non binary people who dont try to look androgynous too, it was nice to hear a cis person that knew that 💜 i tend to just present myself however i want regardless of how people see me, i think everyone should find a way to be themselves that makes them happy 🖤

It normally presents as male because it is safer, but it can be anything within its weight limit of 100 pounds (45 kilograms.) Its bones are softer, so they can break easily, but he can heal pretty quickly. I say it can be hurt pretty easily but is hard to kill. In fan writing there is something called a "Mary Sue" that is written as the perfect person. She's smarter than Spock, braver than Kirk, knows more about medicine that Bones and more about engineering than Scotty, etc, etc. Even though I most closely identify with my alien creation, it isn't any of those. It will, however, try and make sure it takes any injuries because it knows it can handle them in the end. Maybe not so much brave and a bit crazy. Oh, and my universe deals with telepathy, a lot...

Love the doll and the jacket is really cool! When painting a lighter color I would put down a layer of gesso before going in with the acrylic paint. You'll need way less layers of paint that way.

I think they look great! I love the androgynous look and have favoured it for years myself. Real artist quality paints is worth it I think, if you go with the acknowledged brand. Then there are midrange paints that claim to be artist quality that works as bad as the cheapest ones. Then again, the best set of acrylic paint I've ever used was the cheapest set I've ever bought. Go figure...

Lightning bolt was a symbol of protests of women in Poland, after the government created a very harmful law. It's not very non-binary related, but it definitely have a lot to do with fighting for freedom, so I think it match the concept. And yes, I know the lightning bolts on the jacket were put for looks, not any special meaning, but I thought it would be nice to interpret it this way. I mean, that law was bad for non-binary people too and they were protesting side by side with women...
