High taxation with lots of government programs is socialistic, but official socialism is an economic system in which the government owns all of the businesses. There is no example in history where a government went smaller and more efficient. It will always grow fat and bloated eventually. 10% taxes today will be 11% tomorrow and eventually 50%. This is why when I hire kids out of college I give them the lowest positions possible. Something like customer service. Most of them don't take it. The ones that do usually don't last a month. Meanwhile I hired a kid years ago right out of high school through one of our employees and he's running one of my departments. I watched him for about six months and saw the determination in everything he did. I offered to pay for half of our trade school costs. He took it and he's now a big part of our family. If you don't have to go to college don't. Save your time and money. My folks make more than most college grads and are far happier.

It’s wild turning point posted this voluntarily. I’m not sure who made the worse argument here. Socialism is defined as the collectivism of private goods. It is not socialism for a community to work together for common goods. If a community builds a road through town, that’s not a violation of free market principle. If a community demands we pool money together to help pay for Jack down the road to have free housing, now it’s socialism.
