Just a note to add, this version of "Through the Wire" isn't the original recording. After Kanye's jaw healed, he re-recorded the verses. If you look up "Through the wire original" you'll notice it is very obvious that his jaw is wired shut, and some words he can't pronounce properly

I dropped out of college in January of 04. This I felt like a loser. My mom being an educator I felt I broke her heart. I was really in a bad place. This album saved my life. I’ve watched the two episodes of the documentary which was the making of TCD. Seeing him with his mom who was also an educator. Brought tears to my eyes. My mother has supported everything I’ve done. It took a while to figure things out. But seeing Kanye’s early path and hearing this album brings back memories.

I’ve been listening to Ye for almost 20 years.. his music has always spoken to me and I will never not love him as an artist. Last call is a production masterpiece. Every time something good happens in the story he tells he adds another layer to the production, and every time something bad happens he removes it. This is most prominent at the end when he reveals his deal doesn't go through, the beat crumbles into nothing but is then revived when he gets signed to rock a fella.

College Dropout will always be my favorite Ye album, not just because of the humor but because of the underdog status that bleeds into every track. It’s not even Kanye’s fault that he could never recover that, when you have a debut album this good you can never reclaim that underdog vibe…and that’s okay. But this is still his best one.

One of my favorite things about this album college album series is that this music is for the middle class average American. Nearly everyone can relate, but Kanye really tailored it for those folks who have semi normal lives and live every day struggle of just trying to be a person living the best they can with what they are given. It's such a simple concept and yet he was really one of the first rappers to target this specific crowd and it did wonders for him.

@1:04:56 on Family Business when he talks about 'But you ain't have to tell my girl I used to pee in the bed' its a funny line for sure, but it also goes a little deeper. That whole verse is a reference to Ghostface Killah's "All That I Got Is You". That section of the song matches up so perfectly it's like it's a response from the other side of the family. Ghostface Killah - All That I Got Is You Check it, fifteen of us in a three bedroom apartment Roaches everywhere, cousins and aunts was there Four in the bed, two at the foot, two at the head I didn't like to sleep with Jon-Jon he peed the bed Kanye - Family Business And you don't wanna stay there 'cause them your worst cousins Got roaches at their crib like them your first cousins Act like you ain't took a bath with your cousins Fit three in the bed while six of y'all I'm talkin' 'bout three by the head and three by the leg But you ain't have to tell my girl I used to pee in the bed

Back in high school my favorite english teacher asked me what I was listening to during one of our writing projects, I told him Kanye West. He kinda laughed at first cuz I figured he knew more about Kanye's wild public persona and didn't take him too seriously. I told him he makes good music. He didn't quite believe me at first, but he let me give /him/ a homework assignment that weekend, where I told him to listen to this album and tell me how he felt. That monday he came back and told me he really liked it. True story.

When I tell people Kanye's my favorite artist of all time, people are perplexed because they have never heard of his older albums like College Dropout. His production is so rich and flavorful, full of amazing samples, and his lyrics are so creative and imaginative, being so honest and deep while keeping the whole thing light-hearted and witty. His first few albums changed my life in igniting my passion for music and hip-hop in general, so I'm glad you showed your dad this and he clearly loved it!

The excitement these videos give me since they are released once a week reminds me of when I was a child and I waited for a certain day of the week for a cable show like Pokémon, Ben 10, or Spongebob

1. Hearing your Dad discuss his joy at hearing Kanye’s beginning, to add context to MBDTFI, I’m really excited for his YEEZUS reaction. 2. Hearing your Dad realize how good a rapper Jay-Z is makes me excited for you to show him Reasonable Doubt, Blueprint, and/or 4:44… Or Watch the Throne! 🤯

Idk why but I started to get teary-eyed when they got to never let me down. The nostalgia and the feels in this video just hit different. Thanks for this amazing experience, really enjoy your guys' reactions.
