I literally don’t care what Kanye ever says. His entire discography speaks for itself. He changed the game, flipped the script, revolutionized the industry, etc. Whichever way you want to put it, Kanye has proved himself to be the GOAT and absolutely deserves that title. “Can’t tell me nothing”

808’s and Heartbreak is next and I cannot wait! Kanye changed the game with that one!! The one thing I would like to say about Graduation is that at that time 50 Cent was killing the rap game. I specifically remember Kanye switching release dates on his album to come out the same week as 50’s Curtis album. A bold move on Kanye’s part. 50 laughed it off and basically suggested Kanye was crazy to try to challenge him at the time. Low and behold Kanye sold over 900,000 units the first week to take the #1 spot. 50 sold 600,000. Their careers have never been the same since.

50 knew kanye would outsell him, because 50s label didn't put the effort in promoting his album. So 50 decided to challenge Kanye as he was promoted heavily by jay-z's label, pretty smart move to promote your own album through another artist with another label. Smart move right there, that's why 50 making great business deals.

@@keithdoubleo7428 what I'm saying is straight facts. 50 wrote about it in his book and Kanye talked about it. Both stories seem to be the same. 50 didn't even retire after that, and you believing that shows how this was a good executed marketing trick. Rappers beefing creates sales, the same way you ll be seeing Kanye beefing with drake before dropping an album and afterwards partying together. Gullible kids tend to believe anything that's told to them.

I like how you don't mind your Dad speaking his mind. I respect that. the Drunk and Hot Girls edit at 21:15 absolutely killed me to be fair, Graduation probably opens with Kanye's best 6-7 track run of his career, so it has to drop at some point. And to DHG's credit, I still think the production is pretty dope.

Also in reference to the 50 cent line it was actually a pretty “big” moment in hip hop culture. Because Kanye released Graduation the same day 50 cent released his second studio album “Curtis”. before that Dat 50 cent was probably the most popular rapper in the game at the time but he was still making “gangster rap” whilst Kanye was making a more conscious form of hip hop. Both artists appeared on the most popular hip hop show at the time called “106 & park” which was a “top 10 music countdown show”. 50 cent basically put out a challenge saying Kanye couldn’t outsell him because he wasn’t making gangster rap. For obvious reason Kanye won lol

Curtis wasn’t the second. The Massacre was the second. Get rich or die trying was first Curtis was the third. The reason it was a big deal was because it was both Kanye’s 3rd album and 50s 3rd album and the media was well as both men knew it’d be genius to market it as that when there was never no real beef.

Fun fact: "Stronger" by Kanye West isn't just one of the most popular Kanye songs, but one of the most popular songs in music history. On October 6th, 2021, the song went certified diamond, making it the 64th song to ever do so. Going diamond is the equivalent of a song going platinum 10 times, and is one of the rarest achievements in music that only some the most popular artists in the world like Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Adele, Drake, Bruno Mars, Cardi B, Lil Nas X, Katy Perry, The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Sam Smith, Maroon 5 among others can accomplish. So the fact that Kanye is one of the only ones to do it and did it before artists like Michael Jackson is a testament to how much of an impact he has made. Edit: Micheal Jackson In did does not have a diamond *single*, however he does have diamond albums.

My favourite song in Graduation is Everything I Am, I am graduating soon from college in late August, and I'm considering quoting the line "Everything I'm not made me everything I am" as my gratitude message for convocation day. I feel what your dad said about this line a lot. I've had a lot of regrets in my life, but they made me who I am today.
