For what you bought those vw’s for,a person could and would take a huge interest in those cars. That was absolutely awesome of you to give the old boy more than he asked for the vw’s.you’re definitely a class act and a very good person

Never seen a Christian make videos on restoring cars & such. This video was so peaceful & also had so much energy in it. I guess righteousness, peace & joy in the Holy Spirit. That's the kingdom of God. So true. I'm from India & I've heard a lot about the southern Bible belt. I think you guys are amazing. Like the nice gentleman said - stay blessed. GB

This is my kind of show handy guys who are not afraid to get their hands dirty. Interesting old cars. Who does not love vw. Had a 64 i. I drove it all night thru the terrible 43 inch Chicago storm of 1967. Only other car I saw moving that night was another bug that passed me.

Great rescue, well done guys. All the best from a VW Beetle enthusiast in Australia. Talking of which I saw a superb black 'oval window' Beetle parked outside a house today - stunning condition it was.

Just imagine the good condition that the VW's were in when they were 'dumped' there 40 years ago. I bought a '71 from a Car Scrapyard as a burnt-out wreck (Engine Fire). I spent a year and $14K to bring it "back from the dead". That was 15 years ago. Beetles (the most iconic vehicle on earth) grow on you. Today, my Beetle is part of the family. Looks brand new - and has been kept original - other than the Wedgewood Blue and Gray Leather Seats. Many of your viewers are like me, a lifelong love affair with a car? Sounds ridiculous but true. You guys do a great job. If you feel that these pair of Beetles are beyond Economic Repair, pass them on...... There are many people out there that love the challenge to restore, and turn that rust - into gold!! Greetings from Australia.

With the Beetles it's a case of welding in support braces for the body to keep its shape, unbolting what is left of the body and separating the body from the floor. Two new floor pans and two heater channels replaced in th body. Floors are easy to do and the cars appear to be solid. Well worth the bargain $750. I've restored many beetles and buses in my younger years. Great find!

I just discovered this youtube channel today. I've already watched 3 videos. Its raw, real & not over produced. I love what you guys are doing with these vehicles. I wish I was capable of doing this sort of thing. I'd love to repair & save old cars, but I just don't know enough about it. In fact I know nothing about mechanics or car value (except I know all those VW's are worth way more than $750). But these kind of videos make me want to go to mechanic school even though I'm in my 40's. Oh yeah it was pretty cool that you gave the guy an extra $250 cause he obviously had no idea what those VW's can be worth.

The 'Thing' is not a kublewagen, similar but came out years later as a vehicle for the modern German Whermacht in the 70's. The kublewagen type 82 used a beetle platform, however, the Thing type 181 used the wider Karman Ghia floor pan.

Glad to see you guys saving those old VWs. I have a 61 rag top sunroof in my backyard, plan to restore it one day. All yours needs is every panel replaced, swap the transaxle with a 67 type 3 with the long axle tubes and wide drum brakes, convert it to 12v, build a nice 2200cc or bigger engine and redo the interior and soft top and you'll have a nice little car with no A/C. It's easier to pull it from the front on the old bugs, the front axle isn't way up under there like the rear axle.

Nice find! All the bits you need including floor pans and sections are available and not as expensive as youd think. My old 1300 67 Beetle (Named DakDak coz thats the sound she made) was close to as bad as the floorless wonder and after a pressure wash and molasses bath n disassembly she stick welded right up as good as new.

I just finished body repair on my bug and am in the process of running the wiring and replacing all the rubber and interior. Looks like that '60? you got has severally rotted heater channels also. That's basically a structural rocker and it's pretty common that they rust out unfortunately. It's a big job. I love VWs, but this one will have to find someone with LOTS of free time to fix it all up I think. Don't feel bad if it continues to just be a yard ornament. The deck lid might be worth some money for someone that needs one.

The VW thing was my all time favorite car when I was back in high shcool. A friend of mine had a bright orange one. Lance mentions that it has a military look to it. It was actually called the Volkswagen 181. The concept for the 181 came from the Type 82 Kübelwagen (an abbreviation of the German “Kübelsitzwagen,” meaning “bucket-seat car) and the also Type 166 Schwimmwagen (literally meaning swimming car or amphibious car), a German military vehicle used during World War II. The Type 181 was also sold to the public, as the Kurierwagen (“courier car”) in West Germany, the Trekker (RHD Type 182) in the United Kingdom, the Thing in the United States (1973-74), the Safari in Mexico and South America, and Pescaccia in Italy. I build custom Hot Wheels size cars and dioramas, I'm going to do one of this VW Thing and the other bugs. Thank you for sharing. Take care and God bless. JESUS JESUS JESUS Till the Day I Die. Amen Brother.

However, the one that has two bullets on the grill was a 1952 Ford at the 12 minute mark.. My family had one that my dad bought new. He paid cash for it after saving the money he previously spent on smokes. Only took 3 years. He smoked 5 packs of cigarettes, 5 cigars and 2 pipes a day, and was able to quit cold turkey! Long story about that.

" Yall stay blessed" what i love about being a southerner and being a american. The young man showed nothing but respect for someone older than him. SIR, and MAM, still used down here. God bless the CSA , clean up the south buy a yankee a bus ticket.

The fact that you're still concerned with "Yankee" and "Rebel" bullshit is what is still wrong the thinking in the South. I spent one year of college in South Carolina. The "War of Northern Aggression" is still being discussed and whined about. Yankees don't need bus tickets, we have jobs and our own cars.

Nice to see someone honest enough to give more than the asking price even though he could have gotten them for five hundred because he was desperate to clean the place up. Anyone who knows cars knows that even $1000 is a great deal. I like seeing these old vehicles being saved from rotting away or being crushed.

My admiration to the buyer, anyone else (including me) would have tried a lower price than $750, yet he paid $1000. Good man, bless his heart, dear God. RIP to the old man who's not here to see the cars go.

Do you still have the 1960 Beetle you got in that multi-vehicle VW deal? I was so touched by the story of the previous owner's father. It reminded me of my own dad and his love for VW and Corvettes. He always had ideas but never the time or money. I'm now a dad and I have the desire to share my love of VW/Porsche with my son...but I am a total novice in regards to wrenching so I've got a lot to learn (but its okay cause he's only 8 months old). Any beetle projects available for sale?

Well, shoot... My old VW just turned 50 this year and is still running. They're great cars and luckily lots of fresh new parts are still being made for them. You'll likely need new floor pans? That's the "frame" for a VW... Sounds like you never heard of the German WWII *"Kubelwagen"* ?

Ha, at first, when you said “yanks” I was almost incredulous thinking there’s no way someone would mistake them for northerners. Then I realized you’re from AU, which makes much more sense in the context of the word.

The tree work was more expensive than the cars and has to be added in. On the other hand, the way they focused in on the name and phone number on the truck may have resulted in a deal.
