These guys are really good at what they do. I can't help but think that if they wanted to, they could make this into a brand new custom truck that would really be unique and right up my alley, but these gentlemen are (to me) like art connoisseurs and have a truly nostalgic image of what they want the final image to look like. So, I do get it and I have total respect for these gifted automotive surgeons.

The chassis, motor and drive line would make any ride rock, but the '56 Cadillac bumper pushed this rat rod over the top! The cow on the other hand was utterly ridiculous!

around 1976, my father who was headed from FT hood, to Oklahoma for machinist classes (Old GI Bill thing) moved my family. I was young, and my brother was around 8. We loaded all of our belongings into a 66 Ford galaxy wagon, and this same truck (who knows, this could be his old one) Anyway, after the move ,the truck was so reliable we rode in it everywhere. Off to the lake, picnics, and up and down the road while us kids played in the back. We had such fun memories except when my brother fell out of the back door on a dirt road. He had leaned onto the door and the bumpy road allowed the doors to pop open. I can remember screaming for dad to stop. Back then the rear bumper was just a straight one with tail lights that actually stood up and attached to the bumper. not like the kit ones on it now. My brother took a beating on the rocks as his foot was lodged between the taillight and the body. He healed, and we all went on to other adventures. Thanks for the flashback!

The van is very nice !!! I would paint the exterior with clear lacquer to preserve the rust and prevent it from rusting. The Edelbrock engine is too powerful, it is for competition / exhibition cars. Not to mention that it must be very noisy. I would put in a modern efficient 2-liter engine and make a good soundproofing in the cabin. As it is, it leaves you deaf in 10 minutes. The interior would be new, respecting the time, but with modern safety elements, such as glass cleaners, head restraints, inertial seat belts, airbags, soundproofing and modern locks. Modern brakes, suspension and wheels for everyday city use. I wouldn't leave it in a garage collecting dust, I would use it every day.

I was wondering about the glass as well. Protecting the interior was my first thought about it. The Caddy bumper set it aside from anything, Perfect Choice. This was a colossal task. You Guys are awesome! P.S. I would think the new owner would clear cote the Body to stop any further deterioration or possible rust thru. Not criticizing, just a thought. Keep up these videos, Thank you Guys!

...you know, I do get the 'patina' thang - even the 'rat rod' thang...but, DANG! If I'd spent all that doing the 'Metro', I think I'd find/make that one left upper grill bar! And, surely, the busted rear window...you could find some old wore out plate glass shelf and make a 'non-busted' pane for the old gal...The instrument cluster is amazing...the custome uphostered seat is crazy...Never did get the 'bagged' look, though...I mean what IS the point of being able to lower the vehicle right onto the bump-stops? I have a mixture of great respect for the craftsmanship but the curiousity wondering how SO much work goes into it and the end result (visually)...is a rolling rust bucket...Well, 'Turnin' Rust', I 'spose...One last comment - I do appreciate your testifying as to your Christian faith...bless you...but, the scenes of sitting on the couch talking about the project make me wonder why there are pictures of skulls etc on the wall...You guys are certainly enigmatic!
@patouillelafripouille74385 жыл бұрын
yep, a '54 Metro in quite uncommon, what makes it unique; although being a fan of air ride systems, I wonder if it is long-lasting, considering it's mainly inflatable rubber, as regards the weather: summer-winter, hot and cold temperatures, just like tires for instance. But no pain no gain.
