I’ve been to Vegas 5 times in the last 20 years. I’ve noticed a significant decline during my last visit in 2022. There are so many homeless cracked out people on the strip it’s unbelievable. It would be one thing if they were just sitting there with a sign asking for money but they are engaging with people and acting angry and violent. There is a complete lack of police and security out on the sidewalks and bridges. The casinos don’t care what goes on outside. You can smell weed all over. I was shocked how many people I saw bring kids there

I’m in Vegas on vacation right now and that’s what brought me here , im from NJ and often work in NYC. I might see a crazy violent bum in NYC every once in a while but me and my fiancé encountered at least a half dozen in Vegas in just a few hours today!! I think it’s the meth out here.. makes people nuts, don’t see this on the east coast. It’s scary!! and yes, people are smoking weed out in the open everywhere. I have nothing against smoking weed but come on, I always would at least be discrete with it!

Agreed; I went there in the mid-80's first time. Cheap/safe/fun at that time. Honeymooned there in the mid-90's/ noticed an edge and Yikes factor. Went there two years ago on my own; stayed in a time-share off the strip and it's just too risky for a single person especially a woman to to visit alone; I went on the big ferris wheel, thought I had my bearings, but of course it's vegas so I was super disorientated. They don't let you off of the wheel on the same street or orientation that you embarked. Beware. I got super lucky I absolutely knew I was lost and went straight to a well-known casino; they didn't help me; they turned their backs on me asking to call an uber or lyft with no cell phone reception. Absolutely crazy, but two young gentlemen told me hey you look completely Lost. I said Yes. They worked in the casinos there and were kind enough to make sure I got back to my cheap time share off the strip ...safely. OMG. There are Great people everywhere, but I would not endorse anyone else as a single female to attempt this ever. As night started to fall, I didn't freak out or play the victim. I just kept on walking (in the wrong direction). Please realize that your GPS/phone will not help you in the middle of vegas with all those metal buildings/tall structures.

Thank you for the video. As a resident of Vegas for the last 26 years, I have seen a lot. Vegas has always had a crime element like most cities. When I moved here downtown was no-go zone. The Fremont Street Experience hadn't been developed and the majority of the homeless population was in this area. Once redevelopment began downtown, the homeless population spread out to other parts of the valley including the underground tunnels ( Vegas version of skid row). I've seen all facets of crime, but before social media, Vegas had control of the narrative. You didn't hear much about crime once the corporate entities took control and the city was marketed to families. They no longer have control, and now you are seeing the underbelly. To add to the safety tips, ladies please be careful within the hotel/casino space. People will take advantage if they see you are not in full control. This element also goes under-reported.

I’ve been to Vegas many times solo and always feel safe. That being said, I don’t venture off the beaten path. When solo I try to walk near groups so it’s not obvious that I am alone. If I am enjoying some cocktails I will stay at my home casino so I don’t have to walk outside, especially at night. I appreciate the great advice that you share on your channels. Even though I have been there many times over the years I always learn something new or discover a hidden gem because of you two. As always, great job!

My son was last year in Vegas with buddies, so they went to sleep and he was loitering there in the middle of the night alone filming for me, he said he felt safe because there were people everywhere. He was walking the strip of course. I preferred to enjoy fountain view from my room in Bellagio. Safe and clean. Nothing to see in Vegas - all shabby and dirty

There are good and bad neighborhoods just about everywhere. Educate yourself and ask questions. Videos like this are very helpful. I've definitely had some sketchy moments walking in Las Vegas and all of them were at night. I caught the tail end of the mob run era in sin city and I feel like it was safer back then. Those were different times but I feel as if they would not have tolerated so much homelessness. Sure there was crime, but for the average visitor just trying to have a good time it felt safe and definitely more glamorous.

I've lived in Vegas since 97 and they are right on a lot of things however I wanted to just add my 2 cents for anyone thinking of visiting. Stay on the strip anywhere from mandalay bay to the sahara. If your thinking of going to downtown just get an uber or drive there. Don't pass the strat, once u pass it it gets very sketchy. Remember from mandalay bay to sahara is ok once you pass sahara its a whole different thing. Walk during the day and try not to be alone at night.

We have never had any issues ourselves but we are also careful. Use common sense. I have been to Las Vegas by myself many times with no issues but my #1 rule is don't make yourself an easy target. Don't flash cash, don't wear expensive jewelry, keep an eye on your phone, purse/wallet. In other words, look like you aren't worth going after. Stay safe!

We were in Vegas for hubby's union conference last October. We agreed I wouldn't go outside the hotel without him. I almost went out to the Walgreens near the Wynn one day but decided against it. At about that time, there were multiple people stabbed with two dying right outside the Wynn. My guardian angel whispering in my ear.

Visited LV a few months ago after not being there for a few years… boy was I surprised…..what was once a fun place to go is now Overcrowded by over fed and underdressed tourists and WAY overpriced. Homeless people everywhere and you can get away from the smell of weed on the streets. Save your money and go somewhere else. This is a overpriced tourist trap.

Like everywhere in the world, you will have some area that you don't want to go to even in daylight. I lived in Vegas for 20 years, I got robbed once in front of my office. But most people would have their homes burglarized, and cars broken into, or robbed outside the casinos. You cannot be careful enough, it is life and if you are robbed, let go of whatever they want and run for your life. You cannot buy your life back. Period. Be safe. I had enough of Vegas and I just left for good.

I lived in Vegas in the 90s and went to college after leaving the USMC. My parents retired there so I chose UNLV because I could hang with them after 12 years in the military. I moved away in '96 and moved back ten years later after my dad passed. I needed to be close to my mom. I got there and the housing market collapsed. There was no work to be found. I finally got a job working at a mini-mart / laundry matt. People ripped that place off blind. They guy who I replaced had been shot in the head outside the store. It was his fault - he sold a dude some fake drugs and when the guy came back he began to fight with him and the guys friend shot him. It was close to UNLV but the place was dangerous at night with heroin addicts, crack heads, and tweakers. The crack heads would come in to steal and then forget why they came into the store before they could steal anything. The tweakers would stay up all night plotting their theft and were the most dangerous. People trying to pass counterfeit bills, etc. I moved to Naked City, the neighborhood behind the Stratosphere. It used to be the place where people went to find drugs and prostitutes and is in-between the Black and Hispanic gang turfs. It is a dangerous place at night. I got a job at the Seven Eleven behind the Strat. "Someone got shot in the face on the corner" or "They found another body in the dumpster" and other comments were common when you came into work. On one occasion I kicked out a guy selling crack, a hooker and her john, and a homeless dude pissing in the phone booth at one time, all in front of the store. I saw women who were owned by gangs - they owed them money for drugs and then got prostituted until they paid off their debt. Gang members would walk them to their appointments. They would be around for a few weeks, steadily going down hill and then they would disappear. You learned to believe only half of what you hear and repeat none of it. There was a girl driving a brand new Cadillac Esplanade cruisin' with two friends. They were tweaking and would stop in every few hours to refill their drinks. They were up for several days straight. Eventually, she was hooking to get money and her friends were gone. The gangs got ahold of her and the Cadillac was gone.. They passed her around for a week or two until she was cooked. I lived in a small one bedroom on Boston Street. They remodeled the old building next door. Some guy was living there, supposedly keeping an eye on the place during the renovation. One morning I woke up and the whole building was burnt down. They said the fire dept was there in the night but I had slept through it. The guy watching the place had started a fire and burnt the place down. A week later they found a burnt corpse in the building. It was likely that the fire was a coverup for a murder. I worked the swing shift at the 7/11 and talked to the driver who did the deliveries. I looked at his clip board and laughed. "you have a dangerous route" I said to him as I saw the other stores he delivered to, like the ones on Desert Inn. He said he stopped and prayed every night before going to one on DI. They frequently had shoot-outs in the parking lot and other crime going on around there. There were a lot of people who moved to Vegas from LA and they brought the gang stuff with them, once the mob was gone. It is a seedy place with a lot of drugs, gang violence, hookers, homeless and thieves. My mom passed in 2011 and I left town in 2012. Vegas in the 70s was cheesy. In the 80s it was great. In the 90s it was still cool. In the 2000s it became overwhelmed by homeless panhandlers, pickpockets, and criminals. Now it is an expensive nightmare.

Back in the late 90s, we walked from Excalibur to Freemont and back. Left at 9am returning at 3am. It was a great experience that could never happen again. We stopped at most of the hotels and casinos and had dinner on Freemont Street. It was nothing like it is today.

Was once held up at gun point walking from the Westgate to LV BLVD., a distance of one very long block. I was traveling alone in the middle of the day and the robber pulled up in a car, waved me over as if he wanted to ask me something. I hesitated because it didn't feel right. When I did, the criminal, a very young Latino driving a very old compact car, produced a hand gun from under the passenger seat cushion and pointed it right at me. I stared right down the barrel. His aim was perfect. Had he pulled the trigger, he would have shot me in the face. In that instant I turned and ran in the direction of the Strip. The criminal gave no pursuit and I ducked into the nearest business, the still-existing Riviera Hotel and Casino. Every crime is a crime of opportunity; Las Vegas is a target-rich environment for criminals.

I have traveled to Vegas alone before a few times, I usually stay at New York New York or Luxor, and I walk around the strip area during the day but at night I pretty much stay in or around the hotel area. I'm in Dallas Texas and I don't get out of my apartment complex at night either. But I'm a senior citizen and have some mobility problems. Thank you for the tips.

We usually go into the store to buy snacks and sit down at a slot machine on our way out and of course we are there during the day. Just use your common sense everywhere and you'll be fine.

So we drove - driving was not bad at all. And once u go off the strip there is like no traffic. And that red lobster was so far, was like 10-15 min driving straight. I stayed at the Strat last month. I often went to Denny's or IHOP for a late night Snack. I never felt unsafe. I was asked for some change 2 times. No big Deal. I always had some quarters in my pocket, so I didn't have to pull out my wallet. Don't leave the Strip in that area even in daytime, and you'll be fine.

There used to "card poppers" all over the strip with these cards for strip joints etc. Now the homeless, methed out crazies have replaced them. Fremont Street; once very cool and safe even when Mermaids and La Bayou were open, now, is a dump. The performers are just crazies looking busy. The amount of beggars nearly equal the tourists. Ive been living in vegas for almost 10 years. I would say the place i feel the most unsafe is this area close to freemont and near this highway bridge where a neighborhood lies. I cant remember the exact location but i NEVER park my car or walk near that bridge i never felt safe. Sometimes at night i walk around fremont to spray paint and people would most likely leave me alone, but i always make sure my surroundings are clear and that noones following me because these graffitti areas are pitch black!

Vegas is a dump and its not anywhere near a value vacation as it once was. Go to the strip and overpay for your food /buffets, gambling at $20-25 per hand and no free drinks like there use to be. If you are on the strip the best place to gamble is Slots of Fun imo. Head downtown if you want a little of the old school feel. Just don't go more than a block off Fremont Street. Its not safe or clean.

I've been to Vegas numerous times off and on since 2008 and a few times solo and I'm a woman. I've never had issues. Once a friend did have a homeless person yell at her in her face but she may have been mentally ill and she ending up walking off. That was the only odd thing I personally seen in my many years of traveling there. I will say use common sense, don't be confrontational, stay away from dark side streets just like with any other major city. Danger is everywhere and sometimes can't be avoided so I do not think Vegas is an unsafe destination in comparison to other major cities.

Vegas was so good to me especially moving out of chi raq, I moved because it really is a 24 hour city so all I did was work and stayed in the casinos gambling and drinking for free I got burnt out after 15yead of it😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. As a local I am going to give you some excellent advice...Stay away from Circus Circus...don't stay or play there, It is ghetto, your car will not be safe as their have been break ins, druggies hang around everywhere and the rooms are total crap.

It's all true, Vegas Strip is super safe. I think the basic rule is if you are walking, do not go north of Sahara, aka Naked City. That's for the hustlers and dope fiends. Let them have their area. And if you are on Fremont you ain't gonna wanna walk north or east because it is immediately sketchville. But like you guys say, Vegas seems like it would be more crime ridden due to all the freedom to indulge in vices, but statistically it is WAY down the list of most violent US cities. Now, when it comes to choosing Vegas neighborhoods to live that's a whole different conversation, but the Strip may be one of the safest places on the planet because people are there to have fun, and there are so many people around nobody can really get away with much shenanigans.

One walk I made in 2021 that I probably won't make again was from downtown to the Neon Museum. Don't get me wrong, the museum itself is INCREDIBLE, especially if you're into the history of the town, but man, the walk there was from Sketchy Central. I took an Uber back to my hotel, especially since it was dark after my tour of the museum. Museum? Great. The area near it? Not so good.

Did the same thing but during the afternoon. Single Senior adventurous female…but not stupid. The problem with that walk is that once you start..you’re committed. You either have to quit and walk BACK downtown, carry on or hang around at a bus stop corner and wait for a CATS bus to MAYBE come down the road. Poor options…just take the gosh darn UBER and be done with it!

Las Vegas is the 14th safest city in the US, but while walking along the strip, protect your wallet and phone since pickpockets are prevalent. Lol, yeah, Las Vegas is safe, maybe a bit seedy, but safe. But don’t go into abandoned, seedy neighborhoods days and especially night. I was in Las Vegas for an afternoon last year in April. Went to the Neon Museum, Container Park and Fremont St. it was fine during the day, but I would definitely not feel safe in those areas at night. Talk about urban blight!

I went to Vegas from the UK for the third time last summer. To be honest I won’t be back. Drug users everywhere, Weed, dodgy people, even one of the showgirl scammers on the street made threats when we wouldn’t have a picture taken. There’s much nicer places to visit in the great USA. When I went 20 years ago I parked near Fremont and had a nervous moment when I walked to my parked car nearby at night and there was a big man leaning against the fence with a lead pipe in his hands for some reason.

I feel it isn't as safe as what it once was... maybe I'm wrong, but we just had our first trip after the c word.. brother had phone stolen In luxor, guy pulled out a k on someone walking by on the strip next to coca cola shop, and I swear the amount of homeless people increased (I'm not being mean on homeless folks, but it just looks as if the city isn't taking care of people which is very sad). Then the amount of people trying to scam was non stop, even in casinos where security don't seem to do anything This was all last week. But would still go back, vegas is nice. I have never had a problem..but the sketchy area we encounter last trip was going from the Strat the Capriotti's on Sahara. The BF a former Vegas resident was pretty comfy walking past the abandoned apts…me not so much. We did however see a few homeless individuals hang in a bus stop on Koval. No problem except a women wobbled off the sidewalk into the street right in the path of our car. Lucky we swerved & missed her. And lucky for her too. Common sense is key when traveling.

Stay away from the Super 8 motel north of the strip... The only time in 35 years of travel that I felt REALLY unsafe just going out to the parking lot to get our luggage!! Hookers and drug dealers hanging around, giving everyone the evil eye... The one time I was really glad I had my concealed carry with me.

I am in 2 minds to go now after seeing this vid....I really had my heart set on coming on July 6th till the 20th 2023 from the uk on my own to see all the sights.....now I'm a biggish guy and can take care of myself easily....but uk ...not a lot of gun violence compared to America unfortunately....wish I knew someone there who I could meet up and who knows the safest places....plus another downer is resort fee's.....after paying nearly 2k for flights and a hotel ...hotel wants more money....not going to happen....I'd rather go else where in usa or Japan for 2 weeks 🤔 😔

I don't agree with you at all about it being safe to walk from the Virgin hotel to the Strip on Harmon Avenue. I don't think it's really safe to walk on any side streets in Las Vegas. There can be a major convention in town that has brought in 200,000 tourists and the Strip will be jammed with people. However, as soon as you turn on any side street it's going to be deserted. This applies to the major side streets such as Tropicana, Harmon, Flamingo, etc., not just unnamed alleyways. No one walks on these streets because there is really nothing there so they are unsafe even during the day. I have driven down these streets hundreds of times and they are devoid of people even during the day. If people want to be safe downtown they should just stay near the Fremont Street Experience. If people want to be safe on the Strip they should stay near the major hotels and avoid walking on stretches of the Strip that are vacant lots. The bottom line is that if you want to be safe stay with the crowds.

We stayed at the Signature Suites and decided to walk to Ellis Island after a couple of rounds of Top Golf and never again will I walk back down Koval when the sun goes down.

@aja r Flamingo didn't look too bad because there was always someone walking there and there's lights on the street. Just watch out for the corner of Koval and Flamingo because there was a couple of homeless people talking to themselves and it looks like one of the typical spots where they hang out. Definitely stay off Koval. Also try to stay on the north side of Flamingo because you can always escape into the Westin if needed.

Got so bad casinos are infected, the workers, pit bosses, dealers,they all got tempers, cosmopolitan is one, those pitbosses act like you’re in the police station, they shout at you and yell at you just by you passing by holding your cell. Pit bosses and dealers start tripping when you hand over your friend next to you $5 , they start to think you’re cheating, then they don’t apologize, young generation people now a days don’t know common courtesy

People who worry about Vegas are probably not well traveled. I spend the winters here and I have not felt unsafe anywhere during the daytime. I won't comment about the night because I am generally a day person. Getting older I guess. Some changes I have noticed in 2023. You never used to see homeless people because they were in the tunnels. Now they are everywhere, but they pose no danger. Before you would rarely see police vehicles. Now they are everywhere as well in their black and white ford explorers. Before you almost never heard drivers using their horns. No more. The racket is non stop. Same with sirens. It really pisses me off that the security guard who stands in front of cvs has a gun. Same with the contractor security for transit. Never seen a problem on a bus and I use them a lot. Ridiculous. One piece of advice. Do not jaywalk and if you use a bicycle like me be very careful. Cars have the right of way here.

Ridiculous expensive, no way is up to Dubai, Singapore or Monaco standards , there's a reason USA grand prix tickets are 30% off, I don't think they will make a good revenue and ticket scalpers will be selling at last minute for cheap, hotels are already 800 for 3 nights, 6 months ago they wanted 3k, f1 won't make Vegas great 😂
