I’m done with Vegas. Too crowded and the hotels are too damn expensive. When I was going in the 90’s, it was a great deal but not anymore.
@JWD19929 ай бұрын
You know what's weird? I'm kind of drifting into your mindset, but from the perspective of "When I was going in the 2010's." I feel like I am getting priced out now. I guess there are multiple generation gaps. I reckon the "When I was going in the 60's" crowd" has been suffering even longer, haha. Vegas in the 90's must have been something else. You still had the classics like Stardust and Riviera, but Mirage and Bellagio were brand new. And Rio was still considered elite! By the way, this issue seems even worse in Atlantic City. I started going when Atlantic City was considered "dead." The nationwide betting apps and reward programs have changed everything!

@@JWD1992 I was married in Vegas in the mid 90’s in one of the resorts. It was a beautiful setting which has now drastically changed. Everything was very reasonable. Free parking, no insane resort fees and the hotel rooms were cheap. Not anymore tho.

My husband & I used to go one or two times a year. We’d most of the time get a comped room even if we were there during the weekend. With all the changes going on & prices skyrocketing we just haven’t had the desire to go back. The fact you can’t stop on a bridge anymore or increasing the resort fees etc puts a sour taste in our mouth. It used to be our fun place. The walking the strip daily. No care about what time it was. Maybe 2020 killed that for us but I can think about the money we spend at home & the money my husband can win gambling on a local casino site from the comfort of our bedroom. It’s always nice to get woken to “Hunnee I just won , 5, 10, even 20 grand”. Odds were against us in Vegas. We are gamblers & if we feel the need for a night out we will go to a local one. So for now if we ever do change our minds & visit Vegas again we will in the meantime live vicariously through “turn it up world “!

Here are my personal rules of thumb when walking the Vegas strip or any other busy touristy area to avoid all this b.s. they are talking about. Firstly, walk in straight line looking like you know where you are going with purpose. In fact wear sunglasses when possible so it doesn't look like you are making eye contact. Making eye contact is an invitation. Secondly, completely ignore anyone who approaches you. Don't engage. Don't take anything they may try to give you. Keep walking. Look tough and uninterested. Thirdly, stay off your phone for many other obvious reasons.

In Germany we say "der Kunde ist König" which means something like "the customer is the king".. but to be honest, Vegas doesn't feel like that anymore. I's more like "money is the king, customers are changeable". Why not at least let guests of the hotel park for free (well free is the wrong word since we are paying more than 50$ resort fee a night).. just as an example. Also hate the argument that covid is responsible for most of these things - feels more like they are using covid as an excuse to squeeze the lemon even further if you see the the current numbers they are making since covid.. Nevertheless, still loving the city, 7 days to go till the next trip..

Buddhist here. I dont want to break a person’s bread bowl but i dislike people tricking/scamming people. How you know those arent real monks: 1. Wearing normal clothes. I mean there can be people that help get donations for temples, but they usually walk around passive aggressively making people donate like that. Its usually “donate or no? Ok thank you” no items, bo exchanges, nothing. 2. Real monks dont beg, or in this case scam people with trinkets. Most monks ive met usually sit or stand in one spot all day meditating with a donation box set in front. Theres a religious connotation in this. When you beg or trick people into donating/helping you, you build up karma that you have to repay either later on or in next life. Which defeats the whole point of being a monk, which is to escape the cycle of reincarnation.

i just left Vegas and i am saddened at the homeless situation -- and the litter that is in the street is horrible -- people are great, however! PLEASE GIVE WHAT YOU CAN TO THE HOMELESS!

@@aheroictaxidriver3180 That is Not how it works -- I visited many people all over North America - these people were not new to Vegas or drug users -- they were recently homeless and are afraid and the hungriest people I've met in my many travels. In my line of work, I see homeless on the regular, and most are not what many perceive them to be, I suggest you get out and meet the homeless in your area, it may change your mind. Every one of us by hook or crook could end up in the same place. The c VID did this to many people, who lost everything. GOD Bless

The strip is a rip off. When my friends come to town we never gamble on the strip or anywhere with 000 roulette or 6:5 bj. If i dont have enough room & someone visitng me has to get a room they never stay where there are resort or parking fees

Black jack going to 6 to 5, and the huge minimums to play it, are because it is the easiest game. Just take 20 minutes to learn the other games. They are way more fun, and usually have lower minimums.

Don’t go to the dispensaries on the strip

Real Uber scam: they charge you $10 extra to pick up at a hotel on the strip instead of 100 yards away.

Weird because they have to pick you up at designated UBER locations on the Strip. Might want to challenge that next time!

How are booking fees, resort fees and local taxes not all the same thing....? (other than whose hands dip into each one) It reminds me of the pizza places that say " Delivery fee is not Driver tip" - well, what is it then...? ..... OH, it's just another way to wring money out of the customer...... got it.. !
