No y'all don't understand, Epik High isn't just a group, they are one of the OG Hiphop Groups from Korea, debuting back in 2001 in the underground scene. They are a trio, consiting of Tablo, Mithra Jin & DJ Tukutz. The one you deemed "The little brother" (actually him and the first one were the same person) is Tablo & he's actually the oldest and the leader. He's turning 41 this year and is father to an 11 year old daughte. Tablo is actually Korean-Canadian, born as Daniel Armand Lee. He is known as a lyrical genius and that for good reason. Tablo was employed as a lyricist when he was still in high school. He went to Stanford University and graduated with a bachelors degree in english literature and creative writing. This man is looked upon by all your favorite Korean Rappers that are active rn. Not only that, he also produces and writes songs for many other artists too. Epik High as a whole have been called role models by a lot of Kpop Idols and rappers. Also Mithra Jin (The bearded guy with the deeper voice) used to be a poet before joining Epik High and DJ Tukutz is a genius producer who went to Technics Dj School. I recommend watching their "Born Hater" MV. It features rappers Beenzino, Verbal Jin, Mino from Winner and Bobby & B.I from iKON. The video is about the 7 sins and it is also shot in this phone frame style while the lyrics are very much about their personal experience with haters.

Epik high are one of the major influences in the Korean rap industry they’re one of the pioneers they been at it since 2001 they’re one of the first rappers that actually had a pretty strong and legit career in Korea, most of the groups and especially the rappers even in the underground rap scene look up to them. That’s why the line says « I am a legend and I’m here to stay » « I paved the way » because they literally did. CL is also one of the most influential artists of KPOP from 2nd which is the generation and more precisely 2NE1 the group she was the leader of and Big Bang that broke every kpop code and make it how it sounds now. For Zico it’s exactly the same but for 3rd gen. Not a lot of underground rappers chose to go into a kpop group around his debut and he’s also known for being one of the best rappers. The lyrics make really sense with knowing about these. Highly suggest you to check their song « born hater » which features BOBBY and mino and B.I. And of course but unrelated Jay park’s killing verse !!

You guys don't wanna mess with this legends. Zico, CL and Epik high in one package, it's amazing. In the end all it took was the gun to shoot him down. Disguised as a remote meant to skip channels, it’s a profound way to lift the veil on how simple it is to tear someone down… and, ultimately, how it can sometimes be too late to lift a rosary for a soul who actually needs it. Will we wait until they’re reduced to merely art? Or voices, stored as digital music files? Altogether, “Rosario” has us deeply consider the impact of words and judgment, public versus artist, and ultimately world versus self in the face of survival. There's a reason why Tablo says, "I paved the way for the ones that paved the way." These guys are K-Hiphop legends. Epik High is up there now with Tiger Jk as one of the Godfathers of Korean Hip Hop.

I think cl's and zico's parts were easy to digest but the word play in verses for the 2 rappers of epik high (tablo & mithra jin) is UH-MAZING! read the lyrics closely and it's amazing and pure artistry how the lyrics translate so perfectly in english. I think it's also more appreciable if one knows epik high's story and how they are the legends for everyone who pursues rap in Korea and the scandals/ ups and downs they've been through. people really tried to tear them down and destroy them and leave them in the dust as if they didn't almost singlehandedly make a whole genre mainstream in korea. this song was them reminding the korean public that they're the still the best at what they do. and they brought on 2 features who have similar stories. Zico had a rough year like 2018/2019 with the internet and people saying he was on his decline and then in 2020 he had the biggest single of the year re-establishing himself as one of the best current rappers. CL is still working on her redemption arc but she was one of the top female artists for years/throughout her late teens and early 20s. completely helped change the image of female idols in kpop and created the girl crush theme (where a female kpop group/artist has more girl fans than boys). Also she was one of the few Asian females out of the 2010s to show a boss but sexy persona and it not be a schtick. and her old company (also epik high's old label) completely stifled her at the top of her career and snuffed her out to make room for other artists like Blackpink. Eipk High is acknowledging her lasting influence by having her sing that chorus.
