Balljoint or tie rod separator will help to separate the chuck from arbor. I forgot which one I used they have different widths. Just FYI

Thanks, I am planning to make wedges similar to tie rod separators which are basically Jacobs wedges anyway. I had a tie rod set a few years ago but for the life of me I have no idea where they are. Did you happen to see the comment I left on your last video, I only ask because sometimes my comment disappear. All the best!

There is some specialised holders there . I think the cut off tool holders may have been for the old Carboloy blades with the brazed on carbide . They used to sit in an angled block .

I have been getting a bit of an education in mid 20th century screw machines, lol. Most of this stuff appears to be made specifically for an actual Brown & Sharpe screw machine, hence why all the number 20 tooling. The funky shaped slot registration pieces seem to be pretty specific to those machines. All can be repurposed of course but going to be hard to find someone still using one of those beasts these days. Thanks!

Hi Ed, lots of differing tool holders there, would have been expensive when new ! just goes to show the vast array of jobs carried out on capstan lathes, Im surprised some of the shanks are less than 1 inch diam. I thought my Smart & Brown was small ! I would keep the straight shank to Morse taper adapter, comes in very handy mounted in a 4 jaw on your new lathe. Del.

Hey Del, there is some weird stuff here. I filmed this a week before I got the new lathe, so now I am going to keep an eye out for a turret attachment for the Atlas and I will probably keep the adapter now. They made one with 3/4" or maybe 5/8" mounts. The more I have researched this stuff, a lot was for purpose built machines that do not even exist anymore. Lots of stuff to stub my toe on though. Thanks!

@@theeddies Hi Ed, capstans are a bit of a dinosaur these days with CNC , my lathe came with it, I intend making some automatons in the next few days so may come in handy for multiple parts. If nothing else theres some quality material there with the option of repurposing. yeah those Morse to straight shank are really useful, Del.

Thanks Kimber!, It is a lot of junk that might be useful to someone or me in the future. But yeah, it was a bunch.

Hey Ed did anyone claim the angle plates? :) I'm interested!
@theeddies2 жыл бұрын
Hello Josh, good to hear from you. Unfortunately, I am keeping the 2 little angles. They are a good size for my needs. Best! Eddie

@@johnstrange6799 Are you talking about this video or Keiths? lol. If you are talking about this one, I appreciate it, I hope you did not feel obligated. it was not the type of video I like to make. The reason it took so long to get out is it was a chore to edit out 90% of the babble, lol.

@@theeddies lol this one. I never feel obligated to watch anything anymore. I don't expect anyone to watch my stuff, and vice versa. It's very liberating. I wanted to see the haul.

@@johnstrange6799 I probably should have given $50 for it or $5 would have been nice.
