Fellow Trekkie too (huge science fiction fan in general). Yar, brilliant work. So good and so proud that this is coming from Pakistan. I saw the BTS and loved the layers you are talking about, especially the fact that you went with the idea of how would have we and our technology evolved on our own. Such a brilliant and liberating concept. Keep on doing the great work. I absolutely adored the design.

One interpretation of the storyline could be that the "Traveller" character was once in the same position as Hassan Raheem was at the start of the track. The Traveller journeyed to this timeline but became trapped in the glitch. During his entrapment, he became acquainted with all the musicians. To escape the glitch, someone else needed to take his place. When Hassan Raheem appeared in the timeline, the Traveller became intrigued (0:56), seeing a potential successor. The Traveller then began interacting with the musicians, working to produce the specific frequencies required to re-open the portal. This effort eventually succeeded, allowing the Traveller to enter the portal and return to his original timeline (3:04), also depicted in the track's closing moments (4:34). Hassan Raheem attempted to follow the Traveller through the portal (3:18), but he ended up getting stuck in the glitch himself, as shown in the final shot of the track (4:38).

Jyoti/Shruti, this song is inspired from Bulleh Shah poem " Aye Zindigi "turri jandi aye, asee saray Italy musafir ne- Na ithay kissy sada layi rehna, apni apni baat hunda ke wapas tur Jana. You guys mentioned 100 movies you think inspired of like star trek, with all due respect you missed message of video. If any movie comes close to this video concept is Jacob's ladder. A dying man's hallucination of memories of life time in couple of last hours. All the different lives he has lived. It has nothing to do with star trek. It's simple philosophy of a realization at end of tunnel a look back at dream we call life .

In my perspective " Shazia jee is playing the part of Mother Earth or LIFE itself in other words Zindagi and teaching Hassan as being a curious Human about different phases of Her ownself (LIFE)" 😊 The tapping sound gives the vibe of Victoria or horse cart(Tangaa) which were very commonly used in 60s Another thing you missed were the most beautiful lines " kithay Khula aasman kithay band Gali ey" which means sometimes you have a million options and sometimes you have just one. 😊

I had never imagined such an exhilarating video in combination with that kind of song coming out of Coke Studio. A crazy, crazy blend of times coupled with a killer combo of Shazia Manzoor's retro vocals and Dr. Hassan Raheem's modern vocals, it is just fantabulous, I'm speechless. Shazia Manzoor is as classic as ever, I'm so glad that Xulfi has brought the "Battiyan Bujhaye Rakhdi" gal back on the stage. Hopefully, we shall soon see Dr. Hassan Raheem making his acting debut in a Pakistani drama. The song's lyrics are surely complementing the video, one has to dig deep into the lyrics to understand the concept of the video. Hats off to the entire team of CS and especially those who have created this whole concept. The cinematography is superb, and CS seems to have embarked on a mission to show 1 or 2-hour movie in just 5 minutes of musical video, which happened in Jhol and now this song. This season of CS has set a phenomenal benchmark, which will be very hard to surpass. This song has become my clear favorite for this season, I wish the season doesn't end at all. I'm all smiles seeing both of you grooving and enjoying the song, it was a fabulous reaction as always. Please, please do react to Sajjad Ali's "Har Zulm" and AUR's new banger "Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum", you gals will not be disappointed, trust me! Hope to see you gals there soon, take care, cheers!🌹

First of all, let me just say that I was surprised that you girls had heard of Shazia Manzoor…I don’t know why but I was. I remember watching her on tv as a child and since then had completely forgotten about her. So to be reminded of that time and that too in such an unexpected manner was amazing. Only CS and Xulfi could bring these two artists together and for a song that is so out there that it’s unimaginable. I don’t recall ever being surprised by a song like this, ever. Such an exciting and fun feeling. Ps…As a Star Trek aficionado, it’s the first thing I thought of, Captain Kirk and the original Enterprise 🖖

"Reality is fiction or fiction is reality?" something Morpheus said in Matrix. This song remind me of that. We journey through life, carrying the burden of memories. We will do anything to amuse our heart. Who don't ask for any logical reason for our actions, and before we realize, we are already at the end of our journey back to where we came from. Still thinking that, haven't done anything yet. "gudi murh chali aye, yadan da saman laie, janay kithay jaan laie." So true that this song is multi layered!

I forgot to mention in my earlier comment that I loved the tabla in this arrangement. It’s always there, sometimes barely discernible and sometimes very obvious. It completely set the mood of this song for me and added an oddly retro feel, like when you hear the tabla in American movies or tv shows from the 60s and 70s.

It stands as a testament to the transformative power of music and art. Through its introspective narrative and evocative visuals, the song transcends mere entertainment, offering a profound journey of healing and self-discovery to its audience. It exemplifies how music, with its ability to convey emotions and narratives, can illuminate the human condition and inspire personal growth. As a production of Coke Studio, "Gaddi" not only showcases musical talent but also underscores the importance of art in fostering introspection, empathy, and healing in a world that often seeks solace in its melodies.

I agree with where you're going on about sadness, i sensed a certain melancholy to it too.. the concept of sifting thru timelines feel matrixey enough to divert the attention from how it all convetys in Punjabi, like a duality to it (to each his own), the pov of the person saying all that paints a grim, destructive and ravaged dreams feel too.. like the soul's been dead a while now but also been a while being good at faking the feels to no one else besides rarer others dead within too, aside from whom no one gets even the slightest hint of what actually lurks beneath.

Jyoti is right to pick up on the melancholic tone. Yes, it's a coming of age song, it's about coming into your power and marvelling at the journey, but the reason why it's being sung at all is because the singer's looking back at what she's left behind. She's giving a moment of silence, as it were, to everything that brought her to this point, before she walks away.
