I ended up getting stick drift really bad on my right joystick and was thankful that the Recon Elite was really easy to take apart and I took a big fat rubber band and just wrapped it around the post between the block and the joystick, it's stiffened it up a little bit and I feel like I have a little bit better control with my right joystick and it got rid of the squeaking, and I was pleased that I was able to put the whole controller back together without actually putting any of the screws back in so I can take it apart and modify it again if I like, one of the modifications that I did to it was to remove the vibration magnets which lightened it up quite a bit and I never use vibration, another modification that I made that was really easy to do was trimming around the areas for the trigger on the right side which was not always seeming to get through its full range of motion. My Turtle Beach ended up having issues with it much sooner than my regular Xbox controller but it was also much easier to fix and to modify, I watched a 5-minute video and had it apart in about 10 minutes and back together in another 10 with regular little philips heads and a pocket knife. In this day and age I rarely expect a perfect product but I am always pleasantly surprised when people make a product that you are actually able to repair instead of making trash that once it goes wrong it must be thrown away.

Back buttons are in the middle so takes a bit of getting used to but would defo recommend. Wanted to get elite series 2 but heard too much bad feedback . For the price tho the Recon is a no brainer. Stick drift right stick after 3 months. Installed a stick drift fix pad on the back to get a little more life .
@TheVikingSailor Жыл бұрын
I purchased the Pro A controller and it got stick drift within a week of use. I took a chance on this controller because I really wanted something with a mute button on the controller. This Turtle beach Controller did not disappoint. I can hit that super sound button when players are close and footsteps come alive, I can hear gunfire in the distance. It's not a gimic at all and it will help your game play. Keeping fingers crossed this one does not get stick drift and I at least get a year out of it, but so far I really like this controller.
@shagvtec Жыл бұрын
i had 3 of them in just a few months, its a really nice controller when its new but stick drift will become a big issue in a short period of time, it comes with 2 year warranty from where i bought it so when the drift reappears ill just return it (again). and sometimes the left stick will lose tension like 80%.
@TheVikingSailor Жыл бұрын
@@shagvtec It's about a week later and already have stick drift. I am not rough on my controllers, but the stock controller that came with my Xbox is still good and has no stick drift. I would pay $300 for a controller if it had newer HAL sensors instead of POTs.
@shagvtec Жыл бұрын
@@TheVikingSailor you could try to see if the built in stick calibration can fix your drift, it did not work for me tho, it actually made things worse lol. i returned mine (again...) a few days ago and switched it for a original xbox controller, no more turtlebeach for me!

I bought one of these just over 3 months ago and was initially very pleased.....but, after about 10 weeks I started to get stick drift from the left stick, only a little at first but after 3 days it had got very annoying, used some compressed air to clear on the offending stick but it solved the problem for just 2 or 3 days and then was back. I then used some electrical contact cleaner spray on it which solved the stick drift, but about a week later the stick began to squeak, so much so my wife who was sat on the other side of the room asked me what the noise was, so used the electrical contact spray again on the stick, squeak gone and stick drift gone !!!!. All was fine for another 2 week and then the A button began to intermittently stick. I am afraid it is now in the drawer and I bought something else that works.

I am beginning to think this may be a problem with a batch of these controllers, people who bought them when they first came out seem mostly pleased, however I have seen several people who purchased then since (approx) jan 2023 that have had similar experiences with the recon controller as I had which is a shame because for the price it was initially a good controller.

Saw this on Techne's channel, got me interested. After watching your more detailed review of features and explanation of it I'm def buying it. Great review. Agree another set of back buttons would be great upgrade, and maybe extra bumpers a la Razer. Trigger sensitivity adjustment would be nice just for controller vs M/KB warfare as well.

@ominousview3 жыл бұрын
@@clawson32104 yes it is a steal if the hardware holds up. But adding extra buttons and trigger sensitivity i can see the price be 80-90$. So theyd have a 60$ and 90$ version

Finally tested out my Recon. While the build quality doesn't feel as good as Xbox controller or Razers just holding or touching it (mushy buttons and light weight) it does feel really good when playing it. Was not expecting the super hearing to be that good, but much better than expected. Hearing foot falls in outside environments playing Halo campaign was surprising, using Soundcore Q30 Headphones not even a gaming headphones. What was surprising as you say sounds weren't deafening but you could hear more and clearly. Can't believe it actually works and will look into Turtle beach headphones but why bother now, unless playing MnK. The grippiness for the buttons are great, not so much for palms, not grippy at all but that could be my hands. The back buttons could be more flush like Razer's, and are easy to trigger, i pressed them by mistake a few times but it could be the grippiness too. My right stick has a little drift so will probably exchange this one after researching if this is a common issue. Might be better to Get it fixed under warranty/insurance if that's the case as an exchange might just have the same issue

CONS: They need to change the material of the back paddles. The inside plastic that holds the paddle buttons are incredibly fragile and break after very short use. less than 1 hour of rocket league and 1/2 of the paddle tab broke and made the press very flimsy.

Can you turn off that precise aiming thing? I have the Razer Wolverine TE and it has something similar but you can turn it off in the Razer app on Xbox, as well as customize the other buttons & parameters. I’d be curious to see you review that Razer TE controller to hear what you think. The only problem I’ve had with it is the mechanical ABXY buttons got kinda sticky after a couple days of use...when I thought they were gonna be *less* sticky than other controllers! But I just use the paddles instead of the face buttons now so it’s not a gamebreaker. So I’m kinda still in the market for another pro controller once this one finally konks out The audio controls of the Turtle Beach controller do sound pretty clutch though, especially since my cheap Turtle Beach headset has no buttons for that. And even if I had a more expensive headset with buttons on the cord or something, when you’re in a competitive game that requires comms, you probly don’t wanna take your hand off the controller ever lol. So that added feature could turn out to be really useful for controller players like moi. I just kinda wish it had a couple more paddles to remap my X and Y buttons to tho.

Garbage controller. Analogs are so stiff they interfere with accuracy along with the button stiffness and the LB is stiff and feels different and harder to use. No mouse click for triggers. Super human hearing is too much treble and sounds cheap. The map button is misplaced and annoying. The only thing that's useful is the mute and volume. The buttons underneath are dumb. Best controller for desperate people.
