Great review, I used the ceramic polish (non-pigment) on my metallic Black 2007 Golf for my first attempt using a machine to polish. Did a full decontamination first. It really cleaned the paint up and the gloss is amazing, topped up with the ceramic spray the following day. A very forgiving product to use. Being short of space and time it was well worth it. Like having a new car......Almost :)

Good on you John for being the only detailer I've found on youtube who has been honest enough to clearly say what they make of any difference between the black and normal versions - namely, "naught". Not to put too fine a point on it but you've knocked the rest down a peg in my book ;) Bravo mate

awesom vid. Thanks for the share. Currently I'm using this. The ease of use is what got me. Spent months trying to figure things out as my buddy is a detailer and always speaking about a 3step and when I saw the 1 step by TW it got me excited because I know the 3 step takes skill as its not just straight forward. Interesting your point on losing hydrophobicity of products on top of less hydrophobic products. I’ve seen that effect using Elixir - just lost a bit of poke in that respect when it was over a not very repellent wax underneath.

Hey there! We are loving all of the conversation around our NEW Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Acrylic Black Collection. We wanted to reach out to highlight the benefits our Research & Development team emphasizes with these products. Jon was able to show how the products remove oxidation and display extreme gloss, but this panel was not able to show the BIGGEST advantage of using a pigmented polish product! • The ability to correct deep scratches and rock chips is what truly sets our Ceramic Acrylic Black Polish apart, which would have been visible on a black panel • Our Ceramic Acrylic Black Collection seeks out blemishes, stone chips and deeper scratches to mask and fill imperfections automatically • This results in making the entire black finish look more uniform and consistent in appearance and without white residue For example, if you had a light scratch on a white panel and then used the black polish, you would absolutely see a black line and how the product works! Our experience shows that consumer usage has been extremely positive on dark or black finishes. The human eye can see and perceive overall finish improvements, which include the masking and filling benefits. Our eyes see more than one angle at a time, which gives a human better depth perception and allows for a higher quality review of the surface. Our #1 goal is to make maintaining and enhancing black paint easier for all consumers! We will have an informational video coming soon on Turtle Wax’s KZbin! Stay tuned. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to us through KZbin, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook! We are here to help and to educate our consumers.

John, Love the diligent garage science you do in your tests, you are much respected for this. Watched many of your vids but have not seen one product tested! Black plastic trim is always prone to greying and traditional waxes will contaminate it leaving white residues. I have been through lots of ‘low end’ products that really disappoint. Until I was told by a service manager to use, wait for it, peanut butter! Rubbed in and wiped off (crunchy or smooth) it works remarkably well and more surprisingly lasts. Love to know your view on this maybe make a good vid when you need inspiration. D

I wrote an article on this for pro detailers. I personally think it works poorly Denis. ITs just oil and when you wash the car you break it down. but on some pourous plastics rubbing peanut butter makes a real dull mess of it mate.

Outstanding work my friend. I was dying waiting for someone to showcase this on a white panel so thank you. I KNOW turtle wax is going to see this video and I hope we can get their chemist to shed some light on the black pigment. Strong enough to stain your pads and towels but doesn't stain the clear coat... I guess say it's safety in place so someone can't sue TW for staining a car... Moreover, I think it's just there for a fun factor like a bubble gum scent that serves no practical purposes other than enhancing user experience...and maybe gets you to get out and use the product rather than sitting on the fence about it. It's a win win. Cheers mate. (I'm jealous of your tac products I can't get a hold of... Are they coming back?)

Checked out the Turtle Wax website yesterday morning, and the black kit was showing as available, so immediately ordered a box. Went back 5 minutes later to double check some details, and it was showing as sold out! Shame you didn’t post this video earlier! 😀 Still looking forward to giving it a go, if my car ever returns from the mechanic that is! I only picked it up 2 weeks before lock down, but I don’t think it’s ever seen a polish in 8 years, so should be a good test for the TW black range.

Nice one Jon, I think this is my favourite video of yours. You hit all the right points I was interested in here and as such it was worth the wait over the other youtubers. I think you hit the nail on the head when you talked about the 24 hour cure time. The fact this is important relies on the filling portion setting up. If you are going to the extent of polishing your car, do it properly. The only reason I can see this coloured polish being of use is if you were tackling a car that was clearcote compromised and you just wanted to tickle it. p.s. glad you're no longer coughing. 👍🏻

The best results I ever had on my black cars was with a product called Diamond shine or something similar back in the 80’s. I guess it was just pure silicon. The days of Mer. Hey John, loving the videos. Very useful that you don't just say "this one's better". Everyone's paint is different and in different condition so it is good to know which product is useful in which situation. I have washed and waxed my car before but have never detailed it. Watching your videos has motivated me to buy a DA polisher and some Autoglym paint renovator. I've not managed to find a decent review on Autoglym's paint renovator so would be interested to know your opinion. One advantage I can see to the pigmented wax is that non pigmented wax highlights stone chips on dark paint. I have a black Focus ST and the dried white-ish wax sits in all the chips on my bonnet when I try to buff it off. So as you're not a fan of pigmented waxes I know someone with a black Focus ST who needs some black wax ;) Keep up the good work and good luck with the BMW restoration!

Very interesting. I would say that their 'regular' ceramic polish and wax is similar in concept to CarPro Essence. Not sure whether the base it lays down is as accommodating to coatings as Essence is?
@christopherweir94194 жыл бұрын
Essence doesn't have any fillers and is a fantastic base layer before any LSP. Not sure I would use these polishes before applying a ceramic coating as they have fillers.
@roscopervis4 жыл бұрын
@@christopherweir9419 Essence does have fillers. "CarPro Essence leaves an amazing high gloss finish with semi-permanent fillers and protective capabilities all built in!" EssencePlus has no abrasives, just the semi permanent fillers. So my original point still stands and I still wonder whether the base from the Turtlewax is as 'friendly' as that of Essence.

the trap to avoid is thinking that the product is going to change your life or your cars looks. Its more a long term game of maintain condition and once a year decon'ing and polishing out the marring and protecting and washing carefully. So your thinking of stripping a product to try another.. you risk falling into the endless search for perfection. dont fall into this trap. Use the products to maintain the physical gloss in your paintwork. S20 can put that gloss in there. And you could use the TW ceramic spray product to protect the car afterwards.

Forensic Detailing Channel that’s great thanks for your help , I have the TW polish but don’t want to wait 24 hours so using the S20 with TW like you say should do the trick ,car needs a good polish as few marks on it .thanks

I couldn't handle the cosmetic damage to my pads using this stuff.

It would be interesting to see a follow up video on whether using the washed and permanently stained orange pad has abrasives embedded. I was hoping Brian from apex would show the used pad under his microscope for fun.

Why always after learning stuff the hard way then you accidentally stumble on some truthful video or guide? I'm a DIY'r, trying to be a perfectionist. But found out that only 01% are shown on the internet. At least what is already obvious or what people are saying (no truth). Finally, I found something different and not like some professional telling lies just to sell stuff. I found light, lol. Thanks a lot for answering all my questions.

Nice job on this one Jon as it's not an easy review to do. Wouldn't know where to start personally with reviewing those pigmented products but you've done a good job dissecting them 👍

@ForensicDetailing4 жыл бұрын
iver never used the rupes but the 14-2 150 is a perfect rotary. slim and slight and lot of torque..

I noticed recently that turtle waxes "ceramic wax & wax" is the same smell, colour and consistency and the Auto finesse's "ceramic snow foam". Coincidence? I THINK NOT

nice review, but i will never be buying turtle wax product again, ill stick with Fusso 99 old formula, and car pro lite....etc....Car Pro Elixsier

fusso 99 ordinary formula is the rock ! 👍

Nothing beats Fusso+BSD as a topper in my experience.

Jon I am sure they have thought long and hard about these products in terms of the properties they want in each because an AIO with everything in there would be basically 1 bottle you sell, rather than 4-6 bottles of various things that give you the gloss, cut, and hydrophobic layering they can now offer....MARKETING mate!

to be fair it does do everything. the results are impressive, this product will make sense for a lot of people, I just think the normal ceramic polish does the job as good as the black one.
