Turtle Wax Ceramic Spray coating reviewed this time under fair conditions and I test the true performance on black paint and guide you on how to remove streaking which occurs on darker coloured paintwork.
In this video I skip the car cleaning process (In previous video • HOW TO WASH A CAR FOR ... ) and jump onto the prep and and give you step by step guidance on applying and dealing with the streaks. We discuss the Pros & Cons of this spray sealant.
I also explain why I chose to review this Turtle Wax Ceramic Coating after the first attempt which didn't go well. This video also shows a water test to give you an idea of how the product works.

I also did the same… I did polished my bike, it’s 2 years old now but I always take care of it, so I was confident of the paint condition. I did a hand polish & then washed and applied the product. The only thing I’m wondering is that the water bedding has improved not by a big margin, may be because it was already smooth surface, secondly I did not notice any improved shine, again my bike is white. Let me know your thoughts.

Interesting comments. Here in California, with 2 black cars after about 2 1/2 years, I've had minimal problems, just used a microfiber applicator towel to spread the product around, with not too much product sprayed directly onto to the vehicle and then wiped off with the same microfiber towel using the opposite non damp side, and then buffed with a fresh microfiber towel. Rare streaking, which cleaned off easily with the same applicator which was still damp and wiped off. I spray after each wash ie every 2-4 weeks depending, and can do the entire cars in about 15-20 minutes. No problems with layering. The vehicles look great and get compliments. I have found that streaking can occur when one uses too much product on the same panel.

Great video. I’ve been using this since April 2020. The key to this product is the damp cloth. It’s one extra step but it’s worth it. I also use the TW ceramic polish before this spray and that gives you 2 layers of protection. TW also came out with the black version of this that gives more depth while retaining the same gloss and protection.

Thanks for the video. To make this work in the heat (I'm in Vegas where it can get super hot and super dry!), do only one section at a time. Then make sure you use a dry cloth to buff it. That's it! I do it once a month after the first time, and it's incredibly good.

Good points raised Dave, to help us learners/student of detailing! Meg's HCW first applies similarly, best done with a wet car and damp MF for applying, then use the 2nd cloth to dry and buff (hot day not ideal time to play with this kind of product). Similarly priced to TW, but I will be trying the new (cheaper) Infinity Wax QDX Graphene spray bought recently, but not the weather to test this weekend. ⛈⛈⛈⛈

@@epicautomotivedetailing TW HCW is a good product but those smirs or dark spots appear on dark colored vehicles because you spray directly on the panel here is a Tip for you. Try spraying on a towel and then just spread it on a panel then buff off with a second towel on any dark color (no more). this can happen on any spray sealant/wax not just TW. I've seen it happened even on meguiars NXT wax 2.0.its simple to much product on a surface and not enough time to wipe off.

Nice to see the integrity shown by not only making this video but pulling down the others. From my point of view (just doing my own cars), I'm sticking with Seal'n'Shine (or whatever we call it in the UK). The results are stunning, especially if the first application is done slowly with an applicator. I think the longevity, gloss and slickness are hard to beat for the money. However, if I was selling it as a service, like you, I'm sure selling a ceramic sounds much better than selling something from a £10 bottle from Halfrauds ...

Thanks for this video. I had exactly this issue on my Black Alfa. Streaking looked awful. Tried the damp cloth trick but it didn't improve the situation until I followed the damp cloth immediately (literally damp cloth left hand, buffing cloth right hand) with a bone dry buffing cloth. Then it started to look great. As you say you will go through multiple buffing cloths because the need to be bone dry. This product still takes a lot of effort to apply to a black car so its not for everyone but if you use it have confidence to power on knowing the streaks will come out with these tips. Also, the direct sunlight tip is bang on product bakes almost immediately in direct sunshine making life even more difficult so choose a grey day, should be too hard in the UK.

I'm glad I stumbled across this video because after using this product yesterday I found it streaked terribly. I did a full correction prior to using it. I thought these spray polishes were supposed to be faster to apply and some would have you believe they are, but in my opinion, the traditional paste waxes are far easier to use given that you don't have to franticly remove the product before it starts to flash-off and I think that's the problem with the streaking with these spray polishes, they start to flash-off before you have a chance to buff it off, especially on the larger panels, so it's those areas that have dried are what cause the streaking. You also mention about it being too warm when you applied this previously but TW claim you can use this in direct sunlight.

Dave a great video working in the heat is hard and a hot surface on a vehicle can be a challenge. You state the facts and some products are recommended not to be used in direct sunlight. I know that a majority of the products are not to be used in direct sunlight and it's always wise to read the manufacturer directions. Thanks for taking the time to encourage and to teach others the mistakes you have made and to avoid them. I live across the pond and working in the direct sunlight in Texas is challenging. I have products that can be used in direct sunlight and streaking with any product on a dark color vehicle can also be an issue. You said it best power through it and take the time to use more than one towel and just don't get discouraged. If you are ever across the pond and come to SEMA Show drop me a line.

Good to see you got it working. I only use 3 towels (but that Tesla was a bit of a barge, so understand the issues), and as I mentioned to you on the previous vid comments before, the wet one is absolutely key to getting results. Little tippy hint from my experience of the range. If you use TW ceramic on a customer car and just one coat, you should try to upsell a leave behind of the ceramic wet wax for them to use after maint washes. It is simple to use, they will love the results and you will become their trusted advisor. A couple of bottles will easily see them through six months on an average car. When you return to re apply the ceramic seal in six months, you will have an easy job and you may of course choose to make a couple of quid on the upsell too if you can get a discount from TW.

Loved the video. I have a dark blue car and have had streaking issues with several different products. Instead of using a dry MF towel to spread the product, I've tried smoothing out the product with a damp MF towel. This adds just enough moisture to allow the product to spread around evenly until I can buff it off. It's not a perfect solution but has helped tremendously.

Good video and agree like many, the first time I used this I wasn't impressed at all, especially after watching all of the rave reviews. However, I've stuck with it and found the best way of applying on my black car (including in the summer), is to spray the product onto the microfiber cloth rather than directly onto the paintwork. Still streaks a bit here and there but much easier to work with. Also using the applicator cloth as the damp cloth to go over any bits again rather than another wet cloth. Good results and okay for once or twice a year but not an easy product.

Fair play for doing a 3rd follow up on this. To be honest, if the instructions were better and indeed of any benefit nobody would have an issue. Always makes my teeth itchy when you see a product being hammered by other channels after a little organized holiday by the manufacturers....... fair and well for them to be wined and dined and then spout their recommendations, but here we have the peoples choice giving a REAL review in real conditions on a car he is getting paid to do or not if you fu sorry get it wrong. Most of us normies by now would have moved on and this would be in the bin or the "run out of everything else shelf". We the people are the Gods, not the Voodoo pedlars. Cheers Roy. I removed previous negative bits from my first turtle wax videos as i was being too lazy to give it a fair go. To be fair once its on and its been applied correctly its amazing and that's not just me saying that. I think because of the initial Hype i got carried away and was hoping for a miracle. When it comes to ceramic protection as long as it holds out in between washes that's all i need personally as i enjoy the entire cleaning process so there is no way i would wash a car and leave it without some of quick detailer of ceramic spray at the end of it. Hope you had a nice Christmas too. Ours was ok, Sadly our dog didn't make it so it took the shine off it but ill be glad to move on with 2021

Applied it 2 months ago and didn't really have any issues on a dark grey metallic. Used cheap/less plush MF for application, 1 to apply, damp one to remove and a quality buffing towel. Found it pretty easy and no issues. Over application seems to generate most people's problems imo. Throw towels in a bucket of warm water as soon as you are done to stop the product curing into them and a subsequent wash makes them good as new.

@@epicautomotivedetailing Most of the videos about this product are super inconsistent too... One guy is saying it's perfectly fine to use in direct sunlight, as the product was designed having in mind the hot climates, another is saying avoid the sunlight, one is saying it's super easy to apply, etc. But it's not easy to apply. Probably , theoretically, after doing a near professional level of paint preparation and while you already have other products applied to the paint afterwards... then MAYBE it would be somewhat easier to apply... For me it got really frustrating and I even thought of throwing the bottle out for good... In addition, I got their 3in1 Ceramic Detailer Waterless Blah-Blah product as well - and I got exactly the same streaking problems as with the ceramic wax... And worse, the product says to pretty much spray generously and wait a few seconds... BIG mistake! Edit: I've never, ever had such problems using the Waterless wax by Meguiar's

I just finish to apply the first layer on my BMW i4 and I agree about the quality of this product. Maybe I would add some advices to easyly get the job done: first of all, don't do this outside if the sun is shining. It's way better to to it inside when at temperature under 10° C. You will not have traces problems. Second, don't spray too much product and work on a single panel ay a time. Spray as you would paint: keep your hand moving toward the surface when spraying. Third, use good microfiber special clothes, one to spread, one dry to polish/finish. Don't wait too long to finish after spreading. I tested with and without polishing car before on small surface and if you have time it's way better to do it first. You will got a better result. It's not very difficult to use, but it requires a few hours of good working. Tomorrow, I will go for the second layer, it will be more relax and a quick job, I think. I hope this will help some of you.

Brandnew car, so the first time I washed it I used the Turtle Wax Hybrid wet wax the yellow bottle and that stuff is amazing so easy to use. But after the car was all dry and done, it was parked for about an hour Later in the night I decided I was goin put some turtle wax ceramic spray on it. The green bottle. I just noticed and found out you have to use a damp micro fiber when using the green bottle and very light application, well anyways I didn’t do that so now I kinda have that sappy streak look on my pant. Not horrible but I can see it when looking for it. What’s the best strip wash I could use? Turtle wax Max wash? Or Adam’s Strip wash? The car overall has two coats of wax technically it should be super hard to get off. I didn’t put a crazy amount on the first or second time. But it did have time to cure, so I’m afraid the wet damp cloth trick won’t work for me right now. Just basically want to start over and fresh, then I’ll probably only use the hybrid spray when the car is wet cause I like that the most and I get better results, probably cause it’s easier to use.
