Hey dude! Been gaming on Windows ever since I was a kid, during XP era. Recently decided to give Linux a shot and was blown away how smooth everything is. Only reason why I still have Windows 10 dual booted on my PC is because I can't get my steering wheel to work on Linux, alongside some other software, but I digress. No matter what I did on Windows, my Turtle WoW client didn't run well at all. I had some weird stretched aspect ratio, game was stuck on 60hz, it was stuttery even on low settings, and not a single fix from TWoW's guide worked. Once I got the game on Linux following your guide, everything works smooth as butter. Thank you for your time, this tutorial, and your work on tdf. You are awesome.

First off, thank you for the guide. Secondly, I'm having two issues: -whenever I move the camera, the terrain texture moves with the camera (i recorded this and uploaded it. It's on my channel if you need to see what I'm talkin bout).- And the second issue is sometimes when I close Turtle-WoW, my mouse cursor disappears from my screen until I logout and log back in. Again, thanks for the guide, easy to follow video EDIT: the latest GE Proton was causing the texture issue, currently using Ge-Proton7-5 and it’s fixed!

@@TheLinuxITGuy ayyyy it worked! I tried that before I changed proton versions, but it would freeze my game. I appreciate the help. Also, your addon is very sleek and fits nicely even with the original models/meshes, thanks for the addon

I have linux Mint and trying to get turtle wow to work. It runs but all I see is unknown and I can't exit the game or talk to any NPC

I’ve never seen that before. Try deleting the WDB folder and disable any add-ons you may have.

@@TheLinuxITGuy Maybe I am missing something I can't talk everyone is naked and called unknown can't talk to any NPC. Maybe I am missing some runtime file?

What nameplates do you suggest for this? The default TW ones are insane and massive.

Actually, you can scroll up and down on vanilla UI as well, but I think it's a bit inconsistent there? as sometimes it works for me, and sometimes it doesn't.

The Pally aura bar sits over action bar left and right. How can I fix this?

@@TheLinuxITGuy I did, but it happened again randomly. but I did find a super quick fix. I went in and turned off both the bottom left and right bars and then added them back one by one (left first) and it readjusted it back up.

When I go to add a non steam game and select the same file/exe, it doesnt add anything, it just closes the search and doenst do anything sadly =(

That is strange. Alternatively, you can use Lutris.

strange on my end i cant see the damage i do on the enemy portrait and my health is shown only in % not actual numerical values, can anyone help me out?

OMG Dragonflight UI is so much cleaner than OG WoW's UI, I might donwload this when I play Turtle WoW again.... while making sure to restrain myself on Addons....

When i do the commands for the vanilla tweaks it ask me what app it needs to utilize.. am i doing something wrong??

Make sure you are running everything from the root of your WoW folder.

I just tested this. I ran terminal-> type: ./wowtweaked wowfov.exe and it worked fine

I'm only getting error messages when doing exactly the same. I've tried on both Nobara and Mint. It was working via steam earlier, now not even that works Error is 132, can't access area Z:

I’ve seen that before. Make sure you are placing the twow folder in your /home/user/Documents/ or somewhere you have access to.

I've just reinstalled it via the lutris library, that seemed to do the trick. I made a folder called games in /home/user/Games. Moved my installation there. Didn't work. Installed lutris version in the same location, it just worked! Thanks for pushing me in the right direction!!

What version are you running? I could run 1.12 without issue, but 1.17 lots of problems and not usable. On MintLinux

Use proton 8. There’s a strange bug with the floor when using the new proton and Turtle WoW. I’m using the twow client from their website + wow tweaked.

@@TheLinuxITGuy I saw that there are some commands options in steam that you can run so i was wondering if there is one for blocking internet. like going offline mode in steam so i can for example play DarkSoul3 with no internet on on linux system. I am looking for solution in Steam and Lutris. So far i did bash script that turns off internet but i would prefer to disable net on specific software. Sorry for a question out of the blue on wow tutorial video but i noticed that you are quite savvy in linux customization.

@skarlok1 No worries. This can be done via the loginusers.vdf file. ~/.steam/steam/config/loginusers.vdf RememberPassword set to 1. WantsOfflineMode set to 1. SkipOfflineModeWarning set to 1.

It's a good tutorial but why do you need to use steam? I use wine only and it works fine. Does the steam with proton-ge have any improvements then?

@@P3ON-u6y No it's not. Wine is literally "install and click any exe file" while proton is "download steam, make account, download custom proton, update it, change steam settings, add turtle through steam, change it's own settings"
