Nicky was always a people person, from her Mother's day card, to verbally slamming her parents at the Bat Mitzvah, to wanting to bail her friends out of jail. Her parents were the opposite: viewed her as an object they didn't want or conversely, an object to throw money at when real support was needed. I think her addiction to drugs & those failed theft attempts were her last chances to relate to them: chasing after objects like her parents did all their lives. But she wasn't materialistic like them. She had emotional needs that weren't taken care of and in her most desperate times, her mom couldn't even comfort her without being self-centered. Glad she got in jail and finally received that affection from Red/Morello. Changed her life for the better.
@lynnolson66805 жыл бұрын
She didn't really want to bail her friends out of jail. She wanted the money for drugs. N
@iakdrawllim41275 жыл бұрын
She didn’t wanna bail her friends out, she just wanted drug money, also notice in the second part when she’s talking with those men in the apartment, he says “maybe if we get enough money, we can bail ___ and ____ out of jail” and nicki says “let’s play it by ear” as in, wait until we get the money, and we’ll probably buy drugs with it. And also she doesn’t steal because she desires objects, she steals because she wants the money for drugs.
@Faith-zt6cf5 жыл бұрын
@@iakdrawllim4127 That makes sense. I thought she cared more about her friends at that point, but turns out her plan was to simply feed her drug addiction. I mentioned her stealing objects b/c the big money would give her drugs, which I think she was using to fill the emotional void left by her indifferent parents. There's a theory that drug users rely on substances as a sad replacement for human connection. That way they can experience instant pleasure (that is similar to the happiness another person can give you) without putting up with the messiness & disappointments of actual human relationships. Nicky got a lot of emotional neglect in her early life, so her adult dependency on drugs is understandable.

I had a recent argument with my mom. I’m her only daughter and primary caretaker now that she’s in her late 70s. I don’t dare mention that I’m feeling unwell as she’ll accuse me of faking it to make myself seem that I’m worse off than her. Where is this woman’s head?! I recently had an accident where my right shoulder separated and collarbone partially collapsed. Very lucky to not need surgery. I kept my mouth shut for a week before seeing a doctor despite the godawful pain. I worked and took care of my mom. If I said anything she always reminded me in a sarcastic manner, “Oh, your problems are always so much worse.” There’s a reason I’m the only one in the family taking care of her. I was treated like a burden yet dressed up for show in front of others. No hugs, kisses, or a simple, “I love you.” I could go on, but this is long enough. To adults everywhere: *_Please_* don’t have children if you know deep down that you’re unable to commit the majority of your entire being to love and raise them. It’s taxing on you and the younger generation after you.
