What I got from the video was both Armin and Mikasa played a part in ending the world. Armin by convincing the gang that they should help Eren when he was counter attacked by the Marlyean army and Mikasa by not acknowledging the romantic feelings. Ouch that's a heavy burden to bear!

It is because that Eren at the time was emotionally devastated by the fact that all those people around him would be killed when he proceeds with his plans with the rumbling after realizing he has no other real choice. So when he asked Mikasa that question he could have easily turned down his plan because of his conflicting emotions at that moment. The reason the way I think it is, Eren is planning upon taking all the guilt that he is the only one whom would be called "a devil" that his friends would live a free life ever after, so when Mikasa said "Family" he knew he wanted to make the world safe for her to live, sacrificing himself as he was planning. But if she said something else that requires him to stay with her, at that moment with his state of mind and emotions he might have reconsidered his plan to stay with her.
