TURTLES AND FISH IN THE SAME TANK??? CAN IT BE DONE???
How do you keep turtles and fish successfully in the same tank??? That’s a question we’ve all asked and I’m this video I explain this.
I’ve housed turtles and fish in the same tank for almost a year now. The turtles only go after very small fish or sick fish. As long as the are being fed regularly. I believe turtles are amazing editions to to fish tanks but always remember to take caution and keep a close watchful eye on your fish. I haven’t had any problems with my large cichlids and my turtles, but when I bought some guppies for my 60 gallon, they weren’t spared.

Awesome video bro! I had an African side neck too he was chill for like the first 7 months then he bit a limb off my red eared slider while i was at work. Very traumatic the tank was 100 gallons too. Id recommend it be alone

Great video. I’ve had nothing but success for several years with keeping many kinds of fish with my two eastern painted turtles. Mine don’t even touch the sick or dead floating fish when that’s happened. A good size pleco is real easy to keep with a turtle as I find they don’t struggle with water quality anymore than the turtles do. I’m committed to keeping my tank clean tho so I’ve got some African cichlids that add a lot of color and activity to the tank.

People have to realize turtles are in ponds with fish. Fish and turtles will not eat anything they can’t fit in their mouths

Great video! I have 2 juvenile baby map turtles and I put 2 guppy fry in the same tank. The guppies have now grown and got their colour as adults. They have had absolutely no issues with the turtles. I think some people definitely overrated turtles aggressiveness to fish. Do you think I can put more fish in the tank like some plecos and angelfish?

I totally agree although some turtles are much more aggressive than others. Thank you very much! I appreciate your feedback. As for adding some angelfish and plecos. I think you can with caution. But as you know it’s all caution. It’s worth a try.

With aquatic turtles in a fish tank do you have to have a out of water basking area? Is there any that can be in a aquarium with out that?

Good question. The only aquatic turtle that I know of that doesn’t need to come out of the water to bask is the Fly River turtle. Other than that they must have some type of basking area to come out and dry off completely, they also need UVB and UVA to live a healthy life.

I’ve had two painted turtles with fish for a few years. I’ve upgraded to an above tank basking area but for a long time I just used one of those suction cup mounted floating docks that sticks to the side of the tank with lights above it. This makes it easier but problem is you’ll have to keep the tank water level lower to do it that way.

Hi mate I honestly now found probably best and helpful KZbinr out there’ your smashing it ur Chanel it’s perfectly doing well keep doing you bro love them vids and I’ve liked every video of you have made I like some advice you have courage to me get some sort of turtle now they need to bask under a uva and uvb bulb how long should I leave it on for as I don’t want to leave it on all day and night and Potentially Accidentally kill turtle with ur advice so I want to do something right for them if you could let me know how long for hours a day or something like that be great keep doing them vids love them would awesome if you could shout me out I one day might start my own KZbin channel because of you I live in UK 🇬🇧 and I big fan 👍🙂

Thank you mate. I definitely appreciate the support! I’m glad I could help you in any way at all, that’s what my channel is about. As for how long the UVB & UVA bulbs should be on. I recommend buying an automatic timer and keeping the lights on maybe 12 hrs out the day. From sun up to sun down to mimic what they’d experience in nature. Yes they do! Quite often in a matter of fact! They also have to bask a few hours out of each day to prevent shell rot and other health issues!
