Turtles Are Ferocious!

In this video, I head down to the pond with a bag of shad to feed the fish and there turtles. The bass weren’t too hungry but the turtles were devouring every shad that they could. Thanks for watching!

There is a park here on Fordham Road in the Bronx, NY where the squirrels, pigeons, and a few other critters come out when people bring food. When you bring food, you gain their trust, and they don't have to forage much, the animals come around more often!

Interesting fact about the red ear sliders . They are in the family emydidae (pond turtle family) which means they have to be in the water to swallow their food. This is why they have to go back in the pond after getting a shad.

Painted turtles/sliders are voracious feeders. I'd imagine what would happen to a body in a pond like this.

I kind of think you totally missed my point! If someone had drowned in a pond, the turtles would have had quite a feast. They used to use Snappers with a "cable" through part of the shell. If a drowning was suspected, the turtle could usually find the body quite quickly. With divers now a days, this method is no longer really in use.
