Yea, aquatic turtles always eat and swallow with their heads under water. They need the water to help wash down the food. I have a turtle that behaves the same way. I put food on his dock and he goes up and grabs one pellet at a time then makes a mad dash into the water to consume it.

@@elana4006 hrmm, that's a good idea. I've only tried cutting them in half. So just now I went ahead, skinned some blueberries. I almost ate all of the skins but then I had remembered that the skin is usually the most nutritious part. So I threw those in as well. In conclusion, one turtle liked them. The other was scared, possible thought I was gonna scoop her up? Well I did see the second one (Squirtle) go to the bottom to eat a blueberry but she seemed to chew on a couple and spat them out.... so I guess Squirtle doesn't like blueberries. Paffie is good tho. She devoured them.

The hotel I’m staying at has a lake and today I was feeding the turtles and there was red ears, yellow belly’s, musk turtles and a soft shell and there was melanistic red ears just like melon! Then a gator came and there was a police officer near by and I got in trouble for feeding the gator :(
