The home version of Turtles In Time had a bunch of extra levels, including the Technodrome. You actually get sent back in time at the end of the sewer level. Hyperstone Heist is more like a compilation of the Turtles arcade games. It has bosses from both arcade cabinets and a bunch of stages from all over the place. I think the Shogun level from the home port of TMNT Arcade makes a partial appearance. Also, the surfing level is from The Manhattan Project. I think it also mixes elements of both sewer levels from Arcade and Turtles In Time. Rocksteady is in Hyperstone Heist, but not Bebop. Also, human Baxter Stockman is in the game for some reason. And they included Tatsu from the movie. The final boss for both games is interesting. In the Super Nintendo version of Turtles in Time, they changed Shredder to Super Shredder, but in Hyperstone Heist, it has the original Shredder end fight from the arcade Turtles In Time.

The special move described near the end of the video, the one you do on most beat’em up by pressing two buttons at the same time, it’s a “crowd control” move, you are supposedly to use only when surrounding or when you are getting your ass kicked. If it don’t take your energy, you’ll abuse it. Some games made this different by adding a separate energy bar that will get depleted when you use these moves ( some versions of the arcade X-men you get items, like shoot’ ups “bombs” to do the special mutant move). Also, James has been playing Konami games all his life, can’t believe still didn’t know you always need to beat their games on hard to get the best ending.

I feel like hyperstone heist is a bit more of an after thought of a game. Turtles in time feels like it has a plot and your logically going from one stage to the next progressing that plot. Heist just looks like they took the assets from turtles in time and threw them in a blender. Random shit happening in a random order. Also, the repeating bosses thing felt like one of those "oh shit, we gotta finish this quick, reuse some stuff to pad out the play time".
@cameronwyda66724 жыл бұрын
It's outsourced. Not developed in house by Konami like Turtles in Time was. Not so much an afterthought but a situation where they didn't have the proper resources to do Genesis games yet. Sonic/Sega's success caught the industry off guard.

Think the reason why there were two versions of Turtles between the Genesis and SNES is likely due to exclusivity deals. Nintendo would get a “recreation” of the arcade game and Konami could get around that deal by taking assets from the game and making a different one for Genesis.
@KairuHakubi4 жыл бұрын
oh that makes a lot of sense, so it wasn't sega asking for a unique one, it was nintendo asking for an exclusive port
@kekeke89884 жыл бұрын
So why do Hard Corps and Bloodlines use all new assets. They neither look nor play like total rehashes of Contra III and Super CV. Konami went above and beyond for seemingly no reason.
@BeerBaron234 жыл бұрын
Because the Genesis runs in a higher res then the SNES, so the assets from the arcade are very easy to port to the Genesis (they share the same res/aspect ratio). Assets/Sprites ported from the arcade to SNES would have to be redrawn. Hard Corps and Bloodlines use all new assets as they would have had to be redrawn anyways...

He is not a gamer in the sense mike is. He is a casual gamer and its like an old hobby he had when he was on high school- collage. I think it surprises you cause people expect him to be a hardcore gamer as he did the avgn series. Truth is avgn is like a mini show series or a series of short films. You can see that on board james more easily i think. Because you don't focus on the board games as we focus on video games when we watch the avgn episodes. I was suprise like you were until i spend a lot of time on cinemassacre.com watching his movie reviews. He is a director- artist who uses video games as materials to produce movies

Mike never took advantage of Hyperstone Heist's best feature, the run button! He could've made easy work of that game with it, it makes the game feel different from Turtles in Time since it's way easier to take out certain enemies with it.

The best TMNT game is the arcade game where you could play all 4 turtles at the same time. If I am going to see a new TMNT game a multi player 4 player game is a must do for Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft no question.

I think the arcade version had you go back in time when you beat the sewer level, instead of the technodrome. The arcade version had a surprisingly large number of differences to the SNES version, such as a full lyrical theme song about Pizza Power, supposedly taken from the TMNT: Coming Out of their Shells tour.

I would say that Shredder sending henchmen to change history in his favor was a smart move. The dumb thing was to send the Turtles exactly to the time periods where his henchmen went and the time portals are open. The plan would have succeeded had Shredder sent the Turtles to the formation of the Earth or to the Cambric to die instantly. I guess the game is very accurate when portraying the show because Shredder and Krang always had good plans but either one of them or someone from their staff somehow fucked something up and the plan went down the toilet.
