Turtuk Diary- A walk to the Turtuk Monastery

Turtuk is a village in the Leh district of Jammu and Kashmir. It is a hidden gem located in the Nubra tehsil, 205 km from the Leh town, on the banks of the Shyok River. Turtuk was under Pakistan's control until 1971, after which India gained control of this strategic area.

How long is the trek to Turtuk Monastery from the closest drive able point, in terms of kms. and hours? Is a guide available and recommended for the trek?

Trek is hardly 2.5 km from the main village area. You do not need a guide for the trek, any villager should be able to help you and it is not hard trek..
