Okay, here it is... the @manybikes 1k Mile Review and "first thoughts" of the NEW Tusk 2Track Adventure Tires from @rmatvmc For just $210 you can have a set of these in the 90/90-21 and 150/70-18... My feelings exactly. Mounted on an 1190R. I have about 400 miles now including winding roads in the Santa Cruz mountains where they did great and this afternoon I just finished Jocelin Snow's two day advanced adventure bike training in Salinas. We had heavy rain for the freeway ride to class Saturday morning and partial rain throughout the day. The tires handled mud and damp grass great on the trail rides no problem. When the obstacle course dried up they did wonderfully on rocky areas, large wood structures, tractor tire props, gravel pit, wood sawhorse, over cars, etc. Could not be happier, what a bargain. Highly recommend Jocelin's class by the way, what an amazing person and her co-instructors were excellent as well. I ran the tires on and off-road at standard street pressure (36F, 42R) with no issues. I was given the opportunity to air down but wanted to see how it felt at full pressure.

Have loved my set. Two notes, I prefer offroad pressures around 20 and they did SOO much better when I dropped the pressure but road performance wasn’t as good. The other note is to make sure to scrub them in as I laid my bike down in the first 50 miles on road due to slickness of the rubber. Not just a wives tale. (Experience is on a T7)
@manybikes
@manybikes 3 ай бұрын
Dude! Sorry to hear about the lay down!!! Are you ok? Yes, these tires are hard and slippery until scrubbed in... that is a real thing! Low pressures will help off road, but a tubeless guy will not want to break a bead for the fear of not being able to get it to reseat!!! Thanks for sharing your feedback!

Great 1k mile review. You had some great observations about the tire that I hadn't noticed. The hardness of the tire and jarring feeling was described really well. I hadn't noticed that. Excellent feedback Kyle. Just to add to your on-road review of these tires in rain, my findings are as follows. I suffered no hydroplaning at triple digit speeds during heavy downpour, the lateral give or slippage in the turns is fairly minimal and bike will generally correct itself with enough forward bite to offset the lateral slippage. The only weary road section during rain to be cautious of is riding on or passing over the painted lines when wet. The tire seems to give up a little traction when crossing the painted lines during rain but nothing that makes it sketchy, merely just a wiggle here and there and a heads up for your viewers.

The front lug wear pattern developing sounds like the issue I had with the AX41's I ran before. 1st half of life not too bad to live with, 2nd half of life I did not like noise and slight vibration that developed from the weird/uneven wear of every other row. I switched to a Karoo 4 front which wears evenly and performs great on and off road. These kind of stiff heavy tires as the Tusk do not match my typically 90% on road riding so I'll pass on even trying these. Thanks for another informative review that really helps to steer us towards the right tire choices based on each individual's needs!

Thanks for the review. These aren't available here in Australia yet but I've heard they are coming soon. Based on the firmness and rolling weight of these tires I think I'll be driving with my Karoo 4s so far on my 390 adventure, especially being on the light side bike and tire wise. So far 7000 km and the tire still has a little over 50% tread left

Good news on the Karoo 4. My 1190 ate them up at 4k miles. The 390 would last many thousand more miles for sure. I personally would not run these on anything smaller than a 650 due to their weight.

Gee the karoo4s wire out that quick. It must be a lot more brutal than my mates 1250gsa that got just over 10,000km/6000miles out of a rear karoo4. Thanks for watching! They are for sure robust and will be long lasting. The tires now have over 5k miles on them and they look great. For sure they will outlast a set of Anakee Wild tires. I’ve got 1500 on my set. I like them so much I bought another set when they came back into stock. Are they the best tire ever made? Absolutely not. But they are a very good tire and then factor in that they’re $210 for a set and it’s a win for me. I previously have run sets of MotoZ Adventure, Mitas e-09, e-09+, Anakee Wilds, and the stock TKC80 on my 1090. I feel like these are just as good as any of these offroad and almost as good as all of them on the street. They work for me.
@manybikes
@manybikes 3 ай бұрын
Love your comment! I totally agree that they are not the "best tire" but they are a "really good set of tires" for the riding that many people will do. They handle the highway at full triple digit speeds just fine and they are amazing in the dirt. I think that rock crawling our baby head trails would not be fun. I did not like them at all on wet roads in 35 degree weather but wet at 60 degrees was just fine. Dry pavement corner railing was good too... Overall, a great tire for the masses. It is not a high performance street tire like the AX41, that's for sure... But they are good.

I am going to put one on the rear of my Norden next, Front is too important for me so I will stay with the Motoz DV for front tire. Rear looks good, extremely cheap and looks like with be tuff. I will give up some performance for longevity and being robust. Feels stiff enough I can probably make it back to camp even with a flat. Who knows.
@manybikes
@manybikes 3 ай бұрын
Right on! It is knobby and works GREAT in the dirt. On the pavement ai can always "dial it back" if it starts to get sketchy. In the dirt however... you can't "find extra knobs and traction" if you need more!

Kyle I have a Suzuki 800de with a MOTOZ Duel Venture tire on the front, and a Anakee Adventure rear. I have seen many videos in which lots of people complain about sevier wobble on the freeway at higher speeds. This includes a motorcycle sells person for a very Large San Diego FBC salesman who stated that his KTM 890 wobbles severely at 80 mph. While I haven't experienced any wobble at even at 95mph. I'm running 32psi could that be a factor? PS I like your videos. especially the one on White Rim Trail ( Hopefully Next Year for me ) However Slip Rock is too scary for this Newbe! Thanks for all that you do!
@manybikes
@manybikes 22 күн бұрын
The White Rim Trail is AMAZING and so is your 800DE. Had one for 6 weeks and it was fantastic. The Dual Venture was developed as a "fix" to the Motoz front wheel wiggle. I've run 7 of them, a mix of tubeless and tube type over 5 different bike... zero wobble all the way up past 155mph. I think it has a lot to do with suspension and bike geometry. KTM users have experienced this more than anyone else I have talked with.... 3 of my bikes are KTM's and they don't have issue either. Go figure. Motoz tires are great, not much compares off road.

I hope you get to do it someday! I'm going on my T7 with my two best riding buddies, one of whom I've been riding with for over 50 years. My current plan is to start the trip with Dual Venture on the front and a 2Track on the rear. I was planning on reversing the DV when necessary and hoping to do the whole trip on it. Now that we've added extensions into Canada and the UP of Michigan, I don't think there is a chance of the DV making it. With the funny wear patterns you and others have encountered on the 2Track fronts, I think I should just go with the DV again. What do you think?
@manybikes
@manybikes 3 ай бұрын
@@HollybrookT7 SO FREAKING SWEET!!! Congrats! On the T7 I'd run the Tube Type Dual Venture and I'd flip it at 2k miles. That or the new Mitas XT+, that tire is fantastic off road. I have gotten over 10k on the Tube Type DV on my 1190... it's doable but you definitely have to flip it when it starts to show wear.

@@manybikes After seeing some of the comments here about the 2Track's not so great cold weather and baby head performance, I am thinking I'll just save the rear for summer use after the TAT. Getting to the passes in CO with worn tires that are not optimum in the first place doesn't sound good to me. I have a new Motoz Rallz that I could use, but am wondering if it can make it 6,000 miles to Boise, where I will be mounting new tires. Or should I get a Motoz Adventure that should go the distance but not have as good cold weather performance. What do you think?

Hey boss. Been binge-watching your tire reviews as I need to change the rear out. I am new to adventure riding and have a F800GS. I would be riding my bike mostly in the forests and dealing with sandy and muddy terrain pretty often - this would direct me to buying Motoz Rallz. I also want to use my bike to commute to work (5 miles ride tho) and once a week ride 2-up with my girlfriend - this would direct me to buying Motoz Adventure. BUT, I want to do a ~1500 mile road trip this summer aswell, riding 2-up with gear - this would direct me to buying Motoz GPS. Will Motoz GPS serve me good enough, as besides the road trip its going to be 70/30 off-road/on-road riding.

Thanks for your inquiry. RallZ hands down all day long! I ride daily 45 miles each way to the office.. 1.5 hours to the nearest trails on the weekend. It's the best traction that still performs well on the street and it gets on average 5k to 7k miles. The Adv will get 6k to 10k but it's not as great off road BUt they are similar on-road.

Definitely less spinning in gravel. On road is pretty good except they seem to want to step out when I yank the throttle on real tight leaned over corners(don't really need to be doing that anyways but it was pretty consistent) faster wider corners with smooth throttle input seemed fine and stable. They wear at 1k looks like they'll last about 3k-3500 miles which is less than I'd hoped but I do have a heavy wrist.

I just did a 3200 mile trip on these tires (Tuareg 660) - for a reference point, the rear tread depth (putting a straight edge across two lugs and measure deepest point) is now 0.475". My fuel economy dropped 10% in general and 15% at 70mph. When I first tried the tires, the front felt really sketchy - another reviewer suggested I bump front pressure up to 35psi and that helped on street cornering, but, as you mentioned, made these tires very rough. I'll be putting on something a bit more road biased next - in my next life, I'll be able to rip the trails like you😆

I'm new to ADV biking and got a new KLR650 - put on this tire on the front then went to Moab - and have to agree it was so sketchy and twitchy. I started at 21psi and tried various pressures 15-28 or so (but never as high as 35). It was decent in the dirt but scary on the pavement and gravel roads. On pavement I felt like I couldn't turn the wheel or lean too much or it would "grab" and jerk the steering. I have a big Tusk Dsport on the rear perhaps that has some effect as well? at any rate maybe that's not the right tire for me and need something more road biased like you say - but I'll give it a go at 35psi and see how that works.

That could be a wining combo in warm weather with soft terrain. I did not like the rear in wet weather below 4o degrees (34 degrees in the snow was sketchy) nor would I like to ride them on trails of baby heads as it would be rough! Aired down enough to be effective, I would only want to do that while running a tube. Tubeless I'd be afraid to break a bead and not get it re-seated. The fix is adding a tube... which I would NOT want to do trail side with these monsters!!! Overall, it's a great set of tires though!

Sir , I have a DR650 , want to replace my stock tires To MT21/D606 but with the wider versions, 90/90-21 front & 130/90-17 rears . That’s wider front & back . Is that a good Idea ?

@@manybikes I haven't experienced that feel with these tires, but I am used to very hard Heidenau tires. I kept the front tire around 28 psi and the rear around 32 psi because these tires are so stiff. It seemed to be a good compromise between offroad and on road. I don't think I have the same feel for tires that Kyle has.

Oh Kyle! I had my mind made up,and now I don't know! That is cheap! I'm getting closer to new tires. What do you think of the Tusk rear,and dual vunture front? Only since you weren't so sure about the wear on the front.
@manybikes
@manybikes 3 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! The front is not reversible... so once it begins to wear (like it already is) ... it will go quick, at least that is how it works on most. I'll need to check with Matt to see how it is wearing on his T7. The DV front would be good... the rear, It is knobby and works GREAT in the dirt. On the pavement ai can always "dial it back" if it starts to get sketchy. In the dirt however... you can't "find extra knobs and traction" if you need more!

@@manybikes Cool I'll be watching for that. I was talking a Tusk rear and Motoz front to combat some of the cost. I guess you couldn't go wrong with any of the better tires,and it wouldn't be forever.

Do you think you could safely run the pressures down to, for instance, 25 front, 22-24 rear (for all conditions, Tenere)?

Yes, I do think you could run that low safely with a tube, like the Tenere has.

Not one bit of comparison to the Motoz Tractionator Adventure, the closest analog to this tire?
@manybikes
@manybikes 3 ай бұрын
Yes, I have a full comparo video vs. the Motoz Tractionator Adventure coming. In short, they are very similar off road. On-road the Motoz is smoother and soaks up road imperfections better. In cold weather the 2Track breaks looks first, but if dialed back both are very similar feeling. Stay tuned... This was a 2Track video not a Motoz ;) I dig your enthusiasm though! Coming right up!!!

Mounting the front with the Rabaconda was a shit show. They didn't seal well, the side wall is so stiff it didn't roll into the bead. I am curious if they work in the cold. With so much Nylon, I wonder if they get on temp.

How is the on road handling and cornering compared to say the motoz rallz?
@manybikes
@manybikes 3 ай бұрын
Great question. The Rallz is the winner... In warm weather (above 50 degrees) they are similar but below 40 degrees the 2Track wants to step out any time heavy throttle is applied coming out of corners. That does not happen on the RallZ unless there is water or snow on the ground. The Rallz soaks up road imperfections much better than the 2Track and the rubber on the RallZ feels "stickier" when hot.

@@manybikes I'm assuming the same case or similar would apply to the motoz adventure.

@@eric.colson the Motoz RallZ is a bit better in the cold than the Adventure as the rubber is a touch softer (grippier) and it has more silica.

Disagree on one point, hard tyres like the K60 give the most punctures in my experience.
@manybikes
@manybikes 3 ай бұрын
Hummmm... give the most punctures or have the most puncture resistance? It really is 2 fold. If the hard tire is hard due to increased ply material and has quality rubber (read TrailMax Mission) but if the hardness is due to super thick ply's that feel like plastic, that is a completely different situation. Scratches from rocks and pokes from sticks are different too.

It would be nice to see KZbin reviewers start being honest instead of caring what the sponsor feels about your words. If that were the case then everyone would be telling potential buyers that the trail max mission is simply a street tire. It's marketed as a adventure tire, but it's a street only tire. You quite literally get the same performance out of those tires as you would any street tire. They're garbage the moment you leave the pavement.
@manybikes
@manybikes 3 ай бұрын
I found the opposite. I didn't like them on the street too much and for me they were good in the dirt. I'm spoke what I didn't like about them. The Mission is not a real 50/50 tire and I have openly claimed that too... I've explained what the mission does well and what it doesn't. I personally think it's a compromise all the way around.
