Great video! However, I'd suggest you choose your wording more carefully about what kinds of women were granted different forms of rights and liberations. Not all women gained the right to vote in 1928. It was white, particularly well off women who were granted the right to vote. Just something to keep in mind !

I am privileged with living with good men. They treated me and female family members right. So, I don't really care about feminism theory and why it existed in the first place. However, I started to listen to some of their movement since I encountered cases of poorly treated daughters, wives & female employers. And today, I am delving in deeper into the theory because of Literary Studies. It is good to know that feminism is not all about negativity as it has been stereotyping in the media. Because there are ridiculous demands that made feminism look bad.

@Isaac Smith Well, you're wrong about the video buddy. It's neither pro- or anti-feminism.
@Jacco03 жыл бұрын
@Isaac Smith M'fraid there's a lot of projecting, confirmation biases, assumptions and logical fallacies going on there buddy. Per example: I'm not a feminist. And insisting the other not having an open mind when clearly you don't have an open mind of your own is called hypocrisy. And I'm astounded that with all the writing that you did you didn't even have any good arguments. Like, just because they didn't fight for also being drafted back then doesn't mean they didn't have any valid reasons to strive for equality in other areas. Logical fallacy. And that women spend more doesn't imply transfer of wealth. Men earn more, yes, but does that mean our earnings automatically goes to women? No. We save more. And maybe men support their spouses because the women take care of their childeren more, maybe that's why she's earning less. (Which btw truly is why women earn less; they become mothers). But even if so: men have the most wealth, so what's the big fuss? Are you short on money and spend too much on women?

While these theories are useful, I believe that they miss the overall--that is that all feminisms exist because of the ubiquitous system of patriarchy, within which all women worldwide not only live but whose very existence is defined-by. According to the late historian, Dr. Gerda Lerner, patriarchy is defined as: "...the manifestation and institutionalization of male dominance over women in society in general. It implies that men hold power in all the important institutions of society and that women are deprived of access to such power. It does NOT (emphasis in original) imply that women are either totally powerless or totally deprived of rights, influence, and resources..." (source: "The Creation of Patriarchy," Gerda Lerner, New York, Oxford University Press, 1986). In other words, the very society in which women are born & live & have their lives was put together by men with male advantage as the foremost goal--especially at the expense of female freedom to define & invent their own systems in which to live.

I have only one solution.. why not isolate men and women like create a feminist country. We can allocate 3 US states for all feminist and feminist can make matriarchy and their own rules.

In the past, freedom did not exist for any gender. What is only true is that Humanity as a whole only appropriated itself to the most probable function for it to continue as a species. Any excess wants and ambitions that violate that most important and universal rule is fleshed out by merciless Nature. Any individual desire and expression (male and female ) must be shaped into something that benefits the species continuity. 80% of women throughout history contributed to the gene pool, while only 40% of men throughout history to the gene pool. Here, we see that my initial proposition holds true, in that most men THROUGHOUT HISTORY FAILED, in evolutionary terms. This goes directly against your claim. In simpler words, there is a female advantage, at the expense of men. Evolution eclipses any single society and therefore any single individual, since it is much more larger. The Collective Woman deemed it self important, you can say, that they be delegated to such roles, while choosing only certain men. Again, in this case, an apparent system to live (whether they are invented deliberately or not ) can be seen when things are seen from a much larger scope where women seemingly control the direction of our species. Which, to prove my point, goes against your claim while also supporting Darwin's Theory. Gender studies and social theory is not founded on rigorous scientific credibility.

@@emergence8217 seperationalism has got to be the worst sociological concept out there, for a start the seperation of any two groups would cause massive problems due to current gender socialisation and canalisation in the context of employment, for example construction workers would be scarce in the female countries because only 1/100 construction apprentices are women so there wouldnt be enough of those to take into the feminst country, furthermore they may not want to be seperated which would pose a further problem for employment secondly there would be the obvious problem with population issues as biological women cant reproduce with other biological women and thirdly the stigma surrounding those countries would be devastating to their gdp as there will be misogynists who refuse to import goods from those states which would further impact the budget deficit which would have to exist due to how massively expensive relocation of half of an entire state would be, let alone 3, which would ultimately create an insane amount of debt

1. Feminism is brought by the education progress, openness of ideology, and, of course, the objective injustice existing between men and women in job, wealth and power. 2. The real feminism never means man-hating. Feminism is the belief in the economic, social and political equality between sexes, which aims to stop stereotypes and injustice on the female group. 3. Gender equality is not contradictory with the feminism. The female group is the disadvantaged one in almost every country in the world (just different by degree), and if we abandon the word of "feminism" and just use slogans like "rights equity", the real aspect of the issue will be avoided. 4. Feminism should not be stopped by boundaries or culture, in fact it's about humanity and rights, please not trying to persuade feminist with cultural differences or nationalism. Just excuses.
@emergence82173 жыл бұрын
1) I educated myself with couple of videos like these and I disagree. The premise that women are underprivileged than men is wrong. You need to measure privilege in all cross section of life and calculate net amount through personal social interaction. Feminism only looks at individual elements and differences and hopes to neutralize using forceful intervention. This will create power imbalance. Feminism address female issues while keeping female privileges safe. I see it as a power move based on ignorance or feigning ignorance. 2) if feminism is for equality , even men stood by it earlier. Now it's showing its true colours and it's about equality of outcomes and equity and quotas. 3) again we don't agree that female are disadvantaged. We don't distinguish between biological differences and differences by patriarchy. I'd say men are disadvantaged. Long jump gold medal for men is 8.4 m and women is 7.7 m. Are all men who are jumping 7.7 m getting same as a women jumping 7.7 m. This discrimination exists in all sports and throughout society and social interaction. 4) there is no need for feminism in developed countries. Infact in developed countries there is need for more masculinism. Feminism is only needed in arab or african countries.

It's a form of feminism that argues that women are exploited both by capitalism and patriarchy. As such, they consider working-class women in particular to be exploited (at home and at work, and also by both together - e.g. their free labour of housework and child-rearing, etc. benefits the capitalism system as well as the patriarchy).

this channel's video's are generally useful and unbiased and im sure this video's intent to be unbiased too but i can't help but feel your only mention of trans issues, except to frame them as an ideological difference and not a core part of modern feminist issues is pretty reductionist even for over 4 years ago. In an era where people who where 5-6 years ago openly on the anti-feminist conservative right rallying around to spread bigotry against transgender woman, and queergendered people in general, describing those people as a branch of feminist could be argued to be outright harmful, intentional or otherwise. I understand the desire to remain neutral for the sake of educational professionalism but I hope you can understand how it may seem harmful to position this as a balanced ideological debate, and not, as I hope the last half decade has revealed, a campaign of reactionary fearmongering against the identity of other identities that's actively impeding the march towards gender equality.

@Maleen_3 жыл бұрын
@ do you suggest any good read on steams, methods and Epistemologies?
3 жыл бұрын
@@Maleen_ In order to understand the epistemologies I read, for example, Patricia Hill Collins, since she has a book on Black Feminism has an epistemology. Then you have other epistemologies such as classist feminism, indigenous feminism, ecofeminism, transfeminism, etc, but you apply the same reasoning based on the scientific approach used by P Hill Collins. Besides Collins, for a better understanding of epistemologies, I read Linda Martin Alcoff and Elisabeth Anderson (“Feminist Epistemology and Philosophy of Science”, for example). For intersectionality, I read Kimberlé Crenshaw, 2 books by Collins on intersectionality, great papers and thesis such as “Intersectionality as Method”, by Helma Lutz; and a ton of case studies online about applying intersectionality as a method. For streams, nothing better than reading the works by the ones who built the theory behind the streams. For ex, if I want to understand marxist feminism, I read A. Kollontai, N. krupskaia, Rosa Luxemburg, Angela Davis, Silvia Frederici, Lise Vogel, and so on. You then do the same for the other streams like liberal feminism, radical feminism, anarchist feminism. Hope I helped you!

@ Yes, thank you!! I am well aware of Patricia Collins and Kimberle Crenshaw's work on intersectional feminism. In fact, I feel that's the only method I am well-acquainted with. I mostly find myself confused when it comes finding out what is labelled as a method/methodology/Epistemology. When I google epistomolgies I get empiricism, standpoint and postmodern (I have read a little about each so I only have minimal knowledge), but now you mentioned ecofeminism, indigenous feminism, etc. as epistomolgies as well. May you please provide a brief clarification of how I can tell what counts as an epistomolgy?
