So just the other day someone noticed my guitars hanging on my wall and asked what music I like to play, I said (in spanish) 1950’s rock and roll. Yet I haven’t touched my guitars since I was in my twenties!!! Then I found you bro! My father who grew up in the 50’s taught me these riffs when I was a teenager but I never had them explain to me. I just followed his lead and sang along. He’s gone now and I am glad your vids have brought me back to playing some guitar again!!!! Thanks !!!!

Once again I only spotted you yesterday but very useful, understandable and fun. Do you dampen the top 3 or the E and B when strumming up and down. I can just wondering if you do. Keep up the cool songs 😎
@RocknRollSongbook4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Chris! I'm only hitting the bass strings (4th, 5th and 6th) with my pick when playing this stuff -- you need to angle your pick so that you don't catch the higher strings. But yes, I suppose I do touch the higher strings (which stops them ring out) with my first finger as it reaches over to the bass strings. I hope that makes sense! - Jez

How do I improve dexterity? I can’t imagine moving my fingers like that.
@RocknRollSongbook4 жыл бұрын
It's difficult to give a short answer to that question. Playing scales or instrumental pieces that require you to use all four fingers independently is a good idea. If playing songs using open chords, try to play songs in several different keys, so you end up using your fingers differently all the time. Similarly, whilst three chord songs are great, you can improve dexterity by playing songs that have five or more chords. Try to learn and practice any new things slowly and carefully. Lots and lots of repetition of new things you learn is necessary. It probably gets more difficult to improve finger dexterity as you get older, but it can be done.
