Thank you for taking the time to do this. We had an A/V person who set up and ran our church service streaming. He left and now we’re scrambling to figure it all out. I have a very basic knowledge of using an analog board and this tutorial has helped understand the digital X32 Compact we have. Thanks again!

Thank you so so much! I started working with this at my dad's church and the most I could do was control volume and mitigate feedback and add coloring to the sound with the EQ, but everything else I couldn't figure out for the life of me. Thank you for this simple yet detailed breakdown, I feel a lot better about being able to give my dad the sound he wants for his church!

Got this board a couple months ago at church. We've been trying to figure out stuff on our own, but since we have been having issues, I thought I'd check out your video before our meeting on getting everyone on the same page. The scene info is going to be very helpful, because everyone else gets crazy with this board.

Thanks for the tutorial! Our church is in the process of upgrading to an X32 Compact system too! Although we're waiting on our desk to be replaced by our supplier cause it's a faulty unit, oh well! When we were able to use it, we mostly used Sends on Fader to set levels for monitors. We're also going to be setting up a Behringer P16 Personal Monitoring System with in-ear monitors and headset mics as well, so the coming months are going to be really fun!

We're nearing the end of the process now, just waiting for our case to arrive from China! We've got the AES50 as well, and the school that we run services in was kind enough to let us install Cat5e and boxes to either side of the hall so that makes things a lot easier! We used a partial setup (Desk, Speakers, Snake and New 2.4GHz Radio Mics) and it worked like a breeze except from the fact that one of our wall connector boxes was incorrectly wired! Oh well, we're nearing the end of it now so yay. I'm going to be training a few people up to use the desk because at the moment it's just me trained, so I'll probably use this video! Thanks!

Great Tutorials, Matt. Our small church recently purchased a Behringer X32 Compact and I think it's going to be an enormous asset to our audio/visual efforts. We have both "pulpit" stationary Mics and Wireless/Cordless Mics -- but the problem I'm having setting up the board is getting "sound" from the pulpit stationary Mics to come out the house speakers... the wireless Mic setup and sound comes out, but not the stationary pulpit & Lecturn Mics. What am I doing wrong? (Does anyone else have this isssue?)
@mattingramsound
@mattingramsound 7 ай бұрын
I imagine those mics probably take phantom power, so I would check that first. If you are seeing an input signal but getting no output, you may need to confirm that it is bussed to your main LR, and if it is in a DCA make sure that fader is up also.

Hi Matt. Your video is great.. I am new to the Behringer x32 compact. I am trying my best to find way around it. Just a few days ago I cannot get any audio feed to go to the monitors. The two main speakers work great but my 3 floor monitors have no feed coming through them from the console. What advice can you give me? Thanks
@mattingramsound
@mattingramsound Жыл бұрын
Follow your signal path from start to finish. Are your sources sent to your mix bus? You should see the meter moving on the bus. If that is good, make sure your mix bus fader is up and not muted. Then be sure your routing is correct. Then confirm your amps are setup correctly. Parts 2 and 3 of this series go over busses and routing. Hope this helps!

Great tutorial. Our church plans to order the X32 compact. We don’t have a clue how to work it & have no audio background. What are bus output & matrix output & do we need to know this? Since I am so new to this, most of what you are saying makes no sense, however, we will get 5 hours of training. We have someone who will set everything up for us. We have a simple setup with pulpit & lectern stationary mics, a couple of lavalieres & handheld mic as well as two overhead mics to pick up our choir. Do you have a basic tutorial once the setup is done on how to work the board? Sorry we are so inexperienced. Thanks

There's something that confuses me about the Behringer x32. I would usually use the mix buses for different monitors. Why does the mixer use some of these for effects? Let's say I have 5 musicians playing and 3 singers, and I want them all to have stereo IEMs. There are 16 outputs in the 32-channel stagebox. I'll need to use all 16 outputs. How do I do this if mix buses 13-16 are being used for effects? Can someone please explain?
@mattingramsound
@mattingramsound 3 жыл бұрын
Modulation and time based effects are almost always put on aux sends. Unfortunately, this board does have some limitations with the routing, so you may not be able to get 8 stereo mixes. But for the price, that is forgivable. I would never give up reverb and echo for the sake of stereo monitors though. Your musicians can live with mono.

No offense but you obviously haven't done this much. To be asked for 8 stereo monitor feeds would literally make me laugh out loud. Never in 30 years have I been asked for even close to that. And if you want to mention huge stadium acts that probably have that many monitor feeds, you wouldn't be asking on this thread how that works if you had any experience with that. 5 musicians and 3 singers means 8 monitor mixes tops! And that's only if none of the actual musicians are one of the singers. To actually answer your question though, the x32 also has 6 aux outs that can be used for anything from main outs to live feed, to effects sends or even extra monitor outs. So the board actually has 22 outs.

Hi this is keith i have th behringer x32 compact and just brìging out my own litte band but i m having little trouble with getting my mic audio loud, the music always covering the vocals, i will like to see some audio adjustment please and feed back cut out and second, i also will like to see clearly how to get 17-32 mics channels active 3rd i connected my digital s16 box the light were green but no output audio thanks for your help
@66fitton
@66fitton Жыл бұрын
Hey, as far as the music being louder than your vocals, that could be so many things it's impossible to suggest anything. The most common reason I've seen for this is that the speakers you are using are too small to compete with all the other instruments. Second thing... I own the compact as well. The only time channels 17 to 32 are available is when you are using a digital stage box. We don't have the actual inputs on our boards. If you are using a 16 input digital stage box, you can assign them to be 17 to 32 if you want and use the first 16 actual inputs on the board. That gives you the full 32 but you have to run the mic cables for inputs 1 to 16 directly to the board. If you have a 32 input stage box then all 32 channels on your compact are live. Third thing... When you connect a stage box to the AES50 with a CAT5 cable, you have to go into the ROUTING tab and change the inputs from "Local" to "AES50". -Hit the ROUTING tab. Use left right arrows to get to INPUT. You will see 4 rows of inputs. 1-8 9-16 17-24 25-32. They are in groups of 8 but you can use a combination of both. If you want to plug into the actual board, set to LOCAL. If you want to plug into the stage box, set to AES50. Example: 1-8 Local (plug mic cables directly into board channels 1-8) 9-16 Local (plug mic cables directly into board channels 9-16) 17-24 AES50 (plug mic cables into stage box channels 1-8 *automatically returns them on channels 17-24 on x32) 25-32 AES50 (plug mic cables into stage box channels 9-16 * automatically returns them on channels 25-32 on x32) ** the XLR outputs work the same. If you want to use the ones on the actual board, they have to be set to local. If you want them to come out the stage box, they have to be set to AES50 as well. The Xlr outputs are also in the ROUTING tab. Use right arrow to get to "XLR" .

I have been looking into acquiring one of these for a cover band I am FOH for. They do mostly small venues with occassional medium size venues. There are 9 instruments, 6 vocals, and one drum kit requiring 9 mics at large venues. Max board inputs would be 24. Minimum (at small venues) is 10. There are 3 vocal leads which change based on the song. Using this would be so much better than trying to condense down into the an mg16 and mg20 the band owns lol

They are using either the M32 or M32-Q app. My question. Is there any way on an X32 Compact that would allow me to lock out each of the musicians being able to leaving their respective IEM mix/Aux channel? So they don't accidently go to the FOH mix or accidently press another band members Aux send channel when in the app? Thank you.

Hi Matt how do I send sound online through an atem from the x32
@mattingramsound
@mattingramsound Жыл бұрын
This is a fairly complicated question as there are many different ways to do it and many factors. If you just want to take your FOH audio to the stream, just route your Main LR into one of your aux outs and plug it into the ATEM. (I cover routing in part 3). If you want a separate stream mix, the choose a stereo pair of busses to be you stream bus, then route those to the aux out into your atem. You can then mix for the stream in headphones with sends on fader. (I cover this a bit more in part 2). Those are the 2 easiest ways, but that just gets audio into your ATEM. How you get that online is a while nother topic.

To get fx in the monitors, just turn up the fx returns in the desired mix bus (aux send). As for the other issue: it could be many things, but I would start by checking to make sure that the send on his guitar was pre fader and not post. You can assign pre/post on an individual bus basis for the same instrument.

If you are looking for specific gear, you can also get in touch with the manufacturer and ask for qualified dealers in your area.

I would say, it is good, when you have small bands or the band lineup allows it, to group it into 8 pseudo subgroups, so you have to change between 1-8/9-16 etc. for fine adjustment. The producer could be an alternative, when you use the channels always for the same application and so you write it down. If you have the money for the big X32 and no space restrictions... this is easier to use. Access to 16 channels at once.

Press 1-8 and 9-16 together, boom, 16 channels on both groups :)

How do you get effects to send through to the monitors? I can send them through the house all day but the monitors I have no clue

Hey Kyle, you can get any of the fx returns into a mix bus the same way you would a mic. Select the fx return channel, then turn it up the bus that goes to the monitors. Or you could select the monitor mix bus, hit sends on fader, then go to your returns fader bank and turn them up. Hope this helps!

TFTGear Oof, good luck! My school uses one Behringer X32 rack and in the back stage there is like 10 BIG BIG huge Amplifers in the back stage. The Mixer and the other laptops and all are like in the bottom left corner of the hall (supposing the front of the hall is the stage itself) xD My old school used a TF3, man I loved buttons so I just tried to search it up online. And wow, learnt a lot since 5th grade! Thanks for this informative video too!
