I had done this piece years ago when I was very young but I stopped playing for a long time after that. Recent I have started practicing all my old pieces again and this is one of them. Your tutorial is so helpful to me. Thank you so much. If you were living here in the US, I would moved heaven and earth to take some lessons from you.

Hi Greg, I am revisiting this etude after years away to raise kids and teach. Your video has given me a fresh vision of how I will play this at this later point in my life. Thank you so much for taking the time to give us your practice techniques. You’ve given me some new ideas on how to approach this since I know it already. I’m so excited to rework this piece with the soul of a Nocturne. ❤

Great video! This is helping immensely! I've been playing for a long while, but I plateaued years ago, coupled with life events that didn't allow me to practice for years, as well as some teachers whose behavior towards me made me not want to pursue my music degree. And it's only recently that I found my childhood passion for music again. I recently finished Chopin's op 64 no 2 in C# minor. And it feels great to finish a piece after such a long time. Thank you!

Thank you so much Greg for your valuable time and energy in creating this tutorial. There were some wonderful moments and quotes from you throughout, including when you played mechanically and said “It’s not music, It’s not Chopin. It’s simply ugly!”. I started to play this piece a very long time ago and gave up as I couldn’t get close to the speed nor did I manage to get past the first page. I was never taught how to tackle this piece, however I am going to approach this piece again as you have suggested by first mastering the left hand and memorising it, which I know will be a challenge for me personally. Thank you once again.

@@gregniemczuk I have never had a teacher who shows me like what showed in this video. All my teachers just expect me to know how to practice. It is very unreasonable. Ten years ago, I brought this etude to my teacher, he said impossible for me to do. He is a concert pianist, but has no teaching skills. He is just good in playing. That is why he cannot produce good students. After I quit from him, I found a good teacher. I started entering amateur piano competitions, my former teacher was speechless when I told him that I was able to advance to several finals.

Panie Grzegorzu.

Very interesting. It is very encouraging, inspiring even, to see how hard you work on your pieces. Are there any specific Hanon exercises you would suggest, and do you stick to the same fingering in C♯ for those exercises? BTW is F♯ an alternative Hanon key to C♯ (as there is more variety of stretches between black and white notes), or is it just unnecessarily awkward?
@gregniemczuk

A valuable tutorial Greg. Your comments remind me much of my teacher. It’s so important to practice in the patterns. This Etude must be played precise. There’s no room for stodginess. May I request some information as to how your recommend to pedal this Etude? It is often over pedaled and blurry.

? Zastanawia mnie to bardzo 🤔🤔🤔🤔
@gregniemczuk
@gregniemczuk 5 ай бұрын
Pozdrawiam serdecznie
