Therefore I decided to create a wall mount. XBOX stated that you should not play your Xbox while it was being mounted in this position. Is that true?

Dear, Thank you for your question. XBOX recommend that you place your XBOX One Original horizontally when playing with disc-games (only counts for the original version). If using online games there is no issue gaming while having the XBOX One Original mounted vertically. This video is for XBOX One S. With this version there is no special recommendations by XBOX. Neither for XBOX One X. (As you know, they have made it to stand vertically and horizontally for the gamer to choose). Please don't hesitate to get back for further assistance. I'm happy to help. I just recived mine and installed it yet it will not read the disc when mounted. Why is that?

Hi Heber, Thank you for your message. I recommend that you contact us directly at [e-mail] and inform us your order number. Then we can see what you ordered and thereby better helt you. However, as I guess it's the XBOX One S you have at home (since you are writing here)? The disc should not be affected at all since the console is designed to stand up vertically. So, if you have trouble with the console it can not have anything to do with the mount. You should therefore just contact Microsoft to have them look at the console.
