This track has one of my favorites tradeoffs from Dave and Adrian. The mood tempo is awesome, especially with Adrian's part.

another of my fav's by Maiden.. Seems most everything I'm hearing now ends up being a fav or a new fav. Could be worse I guess.. Keep them rolling Nico..

Hey Nico. Been playing this solo for years now and it always sounded wrong to the original but kept playing it like i learned it ages ago. (like many other maiden solo's lol) recently i started relearning them all by listening closely to the records and build from what i allready have. Today i listened to this solo again and combined with this video (especially your way of playing lick 2, i always played the wrong way) i can finally play it correct. However, you miss 2 notes in lick 1 (atleast to what i can hear on the original). It seems that there are 2 more notes before the second part of lick one. so just before the 12-11 on the g string. sounds to me like he's doing 11-9 on the d string. Please correct me if i'm wrong though! But there's definately something more between the 2 licks that make up lick 1. Curious about what you think. Thanks for all the videos though!

Sounds more like he slid away from the A after the wide vibrato and his ring finger accidentally flicked the B string as he let go of the G string and repositioned his hand for the rest of the lick. Adding two 16th notes there wouldn't make much sense with the slow and deliberate phrasing of that lick.

@@LicksOfTheBeast Thanks for the reply. Makes sense indeed. Could be that he played that second part of the riff from the lower position on the neck starting on the b string. Anyway, thought it sounded cool and prety pronounced on the record. intentional or not, it's a nice little detail i think. Cheers!

thanks once again, as always the best, although I'll be honest it's getting very complicated for me, I just suppose it's to have patience and a lot of practice
@LicksOfTheBeast4 жыл бұрын
Patience, constant practice and perseverance will get you there, my friend! And sometimes when something is really beyond your skill level, there's nothing wrong with taking one or two steps back until you're ready to tackle it. 😊

2:17 Just as I suspected. That fingering position was too awkward. Thanks for showing the correct way.
@LicksOfTheBeast3 жыл бұрын
Yeah back in the day it made me crazy because I had seen it in a tab book like that and I could never get it to sound natural with that fingering 😁
@alaoraf23602 жыл бұрын
During lick 1 of the solo, strange to me is this option to pick an upper string from "inside" instead of using economy picking or "coming up and struming down"... will try this version here too :)

Bravo, complimenti! È la prima volta che vedo eseguire la diteggiatura che ha usato Adrian in Live after death. Posso chiederti che tab hai usato? Quelli che possiedo hanno la diteggiatura sbagliata
@LicksOfTheBeast4 жыл бұрын
Grazie mille!
