Any Mac users out there, you can use Soundflower to route the audio straight into OBS as an alternative to buying a second audio interface... 1. Install Soundflower. 2. Route your DAW audio out to the new Soundflower channel 3. In OBS chose Soundflower as your Desktop Audio device. Then you can use your audio interface solely for your microphone on one of the Mix/Auxiliary Audio devices in OBS. Hope that helps.

Any idea on how to capture Ableton window with plugins window (not through screen capture)? FL captures, so it's something in Ableton?

Why does nobody understand that I need my sound to BE STEREO. NOT MONO. it only comes out of the left channel. Can someone help?

Great video but I dumb it down because title is misleading, you routed stuff inside of your audio interface and that's what the title was missing.
@DeadKaspar4 жыл бұрын
You could also integrate a seperate mic-channel in Ableton and do the de-essing and stuff on the fly. Just route the signal from the mic track around the Master output, direct to your ext. outs; setting 'audio to' to 'ext. out' and choose a line below your master-outputs. I guess in the most cases it is 1/2. But then you never have a separate mic-track in the recording. I dunno how important this is for your workflow. btw great video :D

I tried this but it's limiting because if you happen to solo anything in ableton your mic gets muted. and it's just a janky way to set things up.

ha! actually i tried the voicemeeter banana last night, played with it for ages, but just couldnt get rid of the massive latency between the 2 different sound cards, and decided running 2 analogue lines between the soundcards, and not using banana would be the most simple option!

For windows there is this thing called synchronous audio router. Can be a bit pain in the ass to set up but works. You need to run ableton as administrator for it to work (atleast I had to). It enables you to route ASIO audio to OBS.
@Slynk4 жыл бұрын
The problem I see with that software is that you have to use it as the audio output device for Ableton. Maybe it works great, but i just don't want to rely on janky software to handle this sort of thing. I don't need an extra layer of jank between Ableton and my speakers. My setup, although expensive, works perfectly, every time, without having to run any software or change any settings on my computer before/after recording a video.

@Slynk4 жыл бұрын
If your audio interface has DSP then you could use them. For example, my MOTU Ultralite AVB has a built in Gate, EQ and Compressor. I only use the gate but it's handy to stop the mic from picking up general hissing and humming of my room.

EqualizerAPO allows you to add VST Plugins to any sound device. It hooks before the sound is sent to applications, allowing you to process the mic with a compressor/expander/gate/eq etc. OBS allows you to add VSTs to your sound devices as well, that of course would only apply when streaming or recording. REAPER ReaPlugs 64bit is the go to package for free/decent VSTs for processing due to being zero latency for the most part

So, the 2 soundcard setup allowed you to route ASIO audio from Ableton to your MOTU. It then goes from your MOTU to the Scarlett, and the Scarlett audio is what OBS is streaming? Just want to make sure I understand your routing. I currently use O-Deus ASIO Link Pro, which allows me to use ASIO within Ableton and stream the virtual mix device it creates to OBS (similar process to Voicemeeter, I believe). It works, but for some reason, it's very easy to strain if under moderate to heavy CPU load in comparison to if I just used the Focusrite ASIO drivers and called it a day.
@Slynk4 жыл бұрын
I use my MOTU with ASIO drivers as my output device in Ableton. But it's not an issue of what Ableton, ASIO and MOTU can and can't do. The problem is here. -OBS can only listen to 1 thing on my MOTU. And I need OBS to listen to 2 independent things. -So I have my MOTU sending OBS my microphone audio only. -And my Focusrite sending OBS my Ableton audio only. I use my MOTU as my main device and my speakers, mic, dj mixer and everything is connected to it. The MOTU has lots of ins and outs and the software allows stuff to be routed however I like. So it makes sense for me to send (via a MOTU analog output) my focusrite the audio I want OBS to hear. Voicemeeter and similar software just doesn't cut the cake for me. It doesn't do what I need it to do, which is.. I want OBS to hear 2 different things from 1 audio interface. I've tried it, and many others.
@KamiOfficial4 жыл бұрын
@@Slynk Slynk Gotcha. In that case, the 2 soundcard setup definitely seems like the way to go, especially with MOTU's routing software capabilities. I'll have to look into it. Seems like an awesome toolset to have in the studio, especially for content creators such as yourself. Thanks for the video and explanation dude!
