EDIT:
Thank you to everyone that likes this tutorial! Due to many people asking, the resin I used was bought in Hong Kong, so I don't have the exact brand, however, some people have told me Castin' Craft works fine for the water. You can find it on Amazon and local craft stores.
Good luck! :)
Hi everyone!
Here is the longggg awaited Koi Pond tutorial. I decided to make it since many of you asked me to make one =]. Sorry if it's too long, but I figured you guys would rather have it long than have it in two parts.
Hope you guys like it! Enjoy & feel free to ask me questions if you have any.
Materials Used:
polymer clay (red, gray, translucent, green, yellow, white)
cookie cutter (circle)
resin
pebbles (found at michael's by the mission building sets)
xacto knife
rolling pin or pasta machine (either works)
brush
acrylic paint in red
black pen

As for a tip I suggest pouring some resin in before adding a fish if you want one to look more swimming like and shows more dimension as well as adding more resin on top to add another fish and other decorations, also you can try building your pond from actual rocks instead of using a clay as a base and use hot glue to seal the openings then get to decorating. Just some suggestions to try in near future.

Wow,Wow and again Wow!! I love this tutorial. I have just been working on the Koi. You make it look so easy but it's really hard. I've been mixing a little of the red/orange in with the fins and really like that effect. Also am making the tail fin a little bigger. I'm having the most trouble with the dorsal fin looking natural. I'll keep working on it! You are crazy talented! Thanks so much foe sharing.

Ok I'm doing a school project and I'm making a bigger one of this but 😒 I accidentally bought "plastalina" clay that "never hardens" but I was only going to use it for the base and the support (what you use the grey for on this video) and I was just wondering if this would still work out or do inhale to get new clay (I do have Olmert clay for everything else just not for the shape of it)

super glue works, but it takes longer to dry and "do not" test to see if the surface is dry with your fingers or in the middle because if it isn't dry and you touch it, it will leave a permanent imprint and make it uneven. I recommend using a pin or needle on the edge. Also, you have to pour the glue gently, or a lot of air bubbles will appear (don't mix the glue either, bubbles form super easily).

TLS might not be clear enough. Super glue might work better, it would just take longer to dry (you can add the glue in thin layers too). I got the pebbles at Michael's in the diorama aisle, I don't remember the brands since I threw away the packaging.

I wouldn't blow torch or hair dryer it. It might cause toxic fumes. I didn't really have bubble problems. You might have over mixed your resin and if it starts to become hard, and you keep mixing it, it will cause a lot of bubbles.
