The plastic bag is pure genius. I tried today to do this using plastic wrap and I needed 4 hands to keep the sphagnum from falling on the ground! Thankfully I watched this video and grabbed some bags and followed their advice and it was a piece of cake. Now...I’m hoping I did everything else right so it works but I know step one, covering the wound with damp sphagnum, worked like a charm.

Terrific showing of techniques that require only the most basic materials. I feel confidant that I can do the same with one of my trees. But remember with grafted fruit trees you will not have the same root stock and this may require another step of grafting to get something like the original. Or you could perform this technique on a sucker from below the graft and then graft it once you have a healthy root system established.

Thank you for a great video. We are doing this now with some heirloom apple trees that are over 60 years old. So far we have four new trees started and they are already blossoming. The first marcott is only 3 ft tall and it's loaded with blossoms. I can't wait to see some apples on it later on this summer. Now I'm starting it with a pear tree.
@halhurst41054 жыл бұрын
Not a professional, but it seems likely that with this technique on a "grafted" tree you will be reproducing the fruiting part but may need to reproduce the root stock from a sucker below the graft, and then graft it with scion from the original tree once it's established. But the root stock ought to be a lot more vigorous than the sticks I have been getting, and grow up faster.

Agreed! I’ve an American accent, and though there are dozens and dozens of regional and micro-regional accents, the most typical American accents are flat and harsh to the ear. The Australian accent IS calming, and is the default robovoice for my phone and for my best reader app, (which is Voice Dream, it reads all kinds of things to me; anything saved to it when driving or otherwise not able to read. I love my “Tyler the Australian” robot voice, he’s my best robot friend of all the robot friends I have;)... a UK basic and Deepa from India are my backups). It’s amazing how info can more easily be absorbed with the right voice, and she has a nice voice, and does a great job here, clear and concise:)
