Excellent! Really detailed and well explained. I absolutely love your closeups. Sometimes, in other tutors' videos it can be difficult to see what is happening. I'll give this a go! Thank you again. I'll be tuning in regularly from now on.

Nice pieces! One thing though, there is really no need to glue the glitter into the bottom of the bezel. You can just use a thin layer of resin for that. Mix a tiny bit of resin into lots of glitter, keeping each color separate, and add to your bezel with a popsicle stick or just slowly pour. They will blend at the edge where each color touches the next, but it looks pretty and natural. Then place your larger charms and fill up the bezel. This makes it so you don't need to wait for the glue to dry. Many glitters will stay sunk in the bottom, but some are very light and might float. It is helpful to know what your glitter will do by testing first. Also, as long as you don't overfill the bezel, the resin will come in any shape. Just slowly fill your piece until the resin is a bit higher than the edge, and the surface tension will keep it from running over. Check it every half an hour for the first couple of hours to make sure it isn't running over, and if it is, just remove a tiny bit, and wipe the edge where it ran with a q-tip that has a bit of alcohol on it. You can clean with alcohol until it is cured, and after, you can sand it off.

the clear glue is a MONEY saving idea, as resin is not cheap and glue is. So the glue idea is SPOT on to make your resin go farther!!

Your pieces are really cute. I especially like the seashell ones. Some of the pieces look like they have bubbles in them. Because of the glitter, its not as noticeable, but you can easily banish them by running the flame of a stick lighter across the top of the wet resin.

@ 19:14 you state that round bezels will cause resin to dome. Actually, not all resins are doming resins. It has to do with surface tension and which formula you use. Any shape will dome as long as the correct resin is used. Some shapes like stars may take some careful nudging of the resin with a pointy tool to encourage the resin to flow into the points. But usually if the resin has been warmed properly in advance and is flowing nicely, it will work by itself. (warming also reduces bubbles) I think both Envirotex Lite and Easy Cast will both dome.

Hi there. Very pretty. I'm just wondering why you don't use resin to mix with the glitters instead of glue? The only thing I could think of is because sometimes resin will spread into each other if it's very thin but if you wait for it to cure a bit before adding a glitter it probably would be fine. I love playing with glitter and seeing all the different colors work together

Have you tried making botanical pieces with resin? If so do you know if the flowers have to be put in silicon before embedding to preserve them or can you spray them with resin spray prior to placing in the resin. I don't know if the resin by itself is enough to keep the flowers looking fresh after a few months. I have been pressing them in my microwave but I would like to keep some whole for a three-dimensional effect, but just don't know if they have to be preserved before hand?
@patriciavidal27019 ай бұрын
Yes, they need to be fully dry, and a container of silicone can be used to keep them whole in shape.

Amazing tutorial! I'm new into resin and this was very helpfull. But I have one question you made that beautiful fairy ring but how did you stopped the resin from pouring over the medal charm? I also want to make rings like that but how do I keep the resin from pouring over?
@moogie31115 жыл бұрын
She didn't stop it, she poured the resin right over the charm for all of them.

Casting resin will automatically dome over any shaped piece as long as you put enough in your bezel. Just make sure that you don't add too much.

You don't want to use a spoon or a round dowel-type stick for stirring resin. Use something flat like a popsicle stick - preferably one with the rounded end cut off square. This type of stir stick lets you scrape the sides of the cup and get down into the corner at the bottom of the cup, and a flat surface gives a better mixing action for the resin. Mix slowly, gently and patiently for sufficient time (resin is NOT like cream and coffee - the two parts wil not combine "automatically", and will remain separate if not actually mixed physically throughout the whole solution) - and gently to minimize bubbles, and pour directly from the mixing cup into one place, letting the resin flow across the piece itself. Also, be sure the piece is on a level surface, of course. I actually use a level to make sure of this, using playing cards as shims under whatever is supporting the piece to achieve the level state.
