As a kid growing up in the Philippines I was always inspired with commercials like this and all of the content in your channel were some of the commercials I used to watch when I was little. Now that I grew up and currently residing here on Guam I am aspiring to be a a Cinematographer who can shoot commercials, music videos like you. Seeing all of your content here on KZbin makes me happy because I learn a lot from you even though there's a lot of the new gen cinematographers or film makers out there. I personally think that your contents are one of the best. I must say thank you for being an inspiration because of you I watched lots of awesome commercials when I was a kid and reminiscing them just like the old days is like a trip down to the nostalgic memory lane. You're awesome keep doing what you're doing sir Matthew Rosen.

Hi Mr. Rosen, do you have any advice for someone wanting to be a successful film director/screen writer but doesn't know where to start? I live in London but would like to move to Hollywood and make it there. any advice on bridging that gap? thoughts on studying film/film production at university, is it necessary? recommendations for budget film making gear? how to get finance for your film for a new starter? thanks for taking the time to read this comment, I appreciate all the content you release :)

Carl Zeiss high speed f1.3 50mm with 3 blades. its from the 70s but still one of my favorites
@thekaiser43332 жыл бұрын
@@kinetek2881 Thank you very much. Most kind. You managed to make the only KZbin channel, that I truly enjoy without reservations. I would be lost without it. I studied Camera and Directing at Napier Filmschool Edinburgh and I very much miss the British "if it doesn't exist, let's build it" approach here in Germany among colleagues. Well done! I privately own a BMPCC 4K, a Nikkor 50mm f1.8, a Nikkor 24mm f2.8 and a Metabones 0.64 focal reducer and I will try to recreate your shot or something vaguely along those lines for educational purposes. If I succeed, I'll let you know if you are interested. And your macro shots of the mould ... are simply out of this world! Wundervoll! Fantastisch! Kindest regards and many thanks from Berlin K PS: Brilliant channel! Sorry, I had to say it again, but I couldn't help it. ;->

in terms of lighting for a slow motion video like this , what lights would be preferred to avoid flicker keeping aside that if there is a flicker it can be corrected in post. which would be the best kind of light for the least or no flicker at such high frame rate when slowed down
@PiDsPagePrototypes6 жыл бұрын
Electronic (Flicker Free) Ballasted HMI or Tungsten appears to have been used. Easiest solution for everyone else, is daylight.
@alanesi7 жыл бұрын
Question, What if you want to make all part on this video on focus? how do you make that !?
@PiDsPagePrototypes6 жыл бұрын
Close the iris and add more light. A lot more light....

for shots not ending at minimum or infinity tension two pieces of tape (opposite sides of lens) as hard stops and then do your barrel pull

From ripping so hard on the tape it shakes the camera, yet it is not visible in the shot. Was ist stabilized in post?
@marcelamelchiades8 жыл бұрын
DK same question here hehe
@kinkunkankun7 жыл бұрын
You know, they slowed down the footage from like .5 seconds to 10+ seconds.. :| of course the shaking wont be visible.
@ProfessorChocolateCake7 жыл бұрын
Actually you can see the camera pan very slightly to the right at 1:22 if you look closely, but at first glance it just looks like lens breathing.

I'm confused. What does pulling the tape on the focus do actually? I'm assuming it would cause an extreme and instant change in focus, but I'm not seeing that in the video. Can someone please explain? Thanks.
@rlgaccidentz8 жыл бұрын
How do you not see it? Did you see the granules? Remember, its at 1500 fps.
@graphicartdude8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I see it now. I guess I just assumed the change would have been more instant, but since it's at 1500 fps I suppose it makes sense that it's so gradual.
