If you don't like quilting on your sewing machine or even a long arm and have an embroidery machine have I got news for you. You can do what looks like long arm quilting using your embroidery machine. The hardest part, in my opinion, is getting your embroidery machine to start (or end) on the stitch from the previous hooping. I think after practice, that would be obtainable 95% of the time. I've done quilting in the hoop before and I've had mixed results that resulting in some words being said in my craft room that shouldn't be said. I've looked away from the quilt only to look back and a corner has fallen into the hoop and is being stitched. I've not tacked down an edge and the foot is sewn into my quilt quicker than you can say one of those curse words. LOL. But this experience was much more pleasant for what I will say are 2 reasons. Maybe a 3rd.
Reason 1). Weightless Quilter by DIME. It was so nice not to have to worry about wayward corners falling into my hoop.
Reason 2). Snap Hoop by DIME. Not having to remove the hoop from the embroidery arm was a blessing because once my quilt was in place, my quilt was in place. Maneuvering a hoop back into the embroidery arm when dealing with the excess weight of a quilt could result in fabric shifting.
Now it might sounds like a plug for DIME products and it probably is, but if you can find a tool from another brand that does these things, I believe it would work too. If Sew Steady wants to send me their version of the weightless quilter I would love to do a compare. :-). I purchased the DIME products myself - just sayin.
The third possible reason this experience was much more pleasant is because of the large hoop size. You can do end to end quilting in the hoop with any size hoop, but the bigger hoop results in less time by default.
So watch my video if you want to see how I quilted one of the Easter quilts using my Brother Luminaire.
